I thought that the bristles were a good thing???

kellehar 09-07-2006 09:58 PM

blue spotted puffers, or any of the dwarf puffers will eat the bristle worms, thats how i keep my population down.

Me too, unless the population gets out of control. My tanks don't have enough of them...

My yellow coris wrasse eats them.

AJ_77 09-07-2006 10:51 PM

the question is, "what eats them" - not, "are they good?"

copperbanded butterflyfish eat them. so do larger cleaner shrimp. and I think coral banded shrimp as well.

btw, they are good - just ugly. some predation keeps them honest, and hiding more.

Yeah, I switched ISP's and don't run my own webserver anymore so my old pics aren't online now.

I found the magenta/strawberry dottyback to be good at eating bristleworms (but they'll probably eat all of the other worms and pods as well).

Quagmire 09-08-2006 12:42 AM

My old Arrow Crab would use one claw to stuff his mouth full while grabbing another bristle worm with the other.

WOW! - everything you wanted to know about Bristle Worms but were afraid to ask - what an informative place this Canreef.
