well I got my new electronic ballast yesterday and the first time i plugged it in it fired up right away, now i went to fire it up this morning and it doesnt want to fire up...i can hear that ballast trying to but its just not...any ideas? is the ballast 2 cold or something.?

prosnow 03-30-2006 04:25 PM

okay, so i couldnt wait for a reply so I tryed my spare bulb...fired up no problem...is there anyway my bulb could be done after only one day of use????

prosnow 03-30-2006 04:44 PM

well back to square one...I unplugged it now to add my timer and it wont fire up :( any ideas?

muck 03-30-2006 04:45 PM

how long did you wait before you tried to re-fire it?

prosnow 03-30-2006 04:46 PM

not very long...a minute...maybe...

muck 03-30-2006 04:49 PM

The bulb will need to cool before it can be re-fired. Try it again in 5 - 10 minutes or so.

alright, i'll give that a try, another question I have is, does anyones mh hurt there eyes? I kind of wish I had a better reflector or something, because the way its set up it hits the corner of my eyes when i'm sitting in my computer chair....its starting to really bug my eyes...

Any super bright light next to your eyes will hurt after a while

Be warned though, if you have a double ended bulb you need to shield it with a piece of glass as it puts out a ton of UV.

No matter how many times I read that it makes no sense to me either.

Who cares what it says, does it matter? Haha...

Your ballast probably has a re-start thingy ( i forget the proper term ) You can't plug it in, unplug and go back to turn it on. It needs at least 5 minutes before you can turn it back on. Some kind of safety feature or something.

Sorry I'm not too informative.. bottom line: If you unplug it and plug it back in right away, it won't fire. You need to wait a few minutes.

I had no idea what you were trying to say?

Prosnow,
Glad the ballast is working good for you.

some one posted that the light gives off strong UV rays .so use it like a UV sterlizer. it was a joke.
