30 dollar clam

There is a rumour flying around Edmonton that Golds in Calgary is selling clams for 30 bucks.
Can anyone in Calgary please tell us Edmontonian if that is true or not.
If that is the case, it is definitely worth the time to get down to Calgary
Please let us know
Thanks
Neal

I will phone over later today and ask for you , unless someone posts back before they open. I think I got my Crocea clam for (not sure if I can say) .. but , more than 30. We'll put it that way.

Delphinus 02-01-2006 03:57 PM

Refiling into the Calgary reef club forum..

G1GY 02-01-2006 04:15 PM

They have in the past.

Not sure about now, but I'll be going there in a while and I'll post back and let you know for sure.

OCDP 02-01-2006 04:33 PM

They have some squamosa's in right now, but that's it. No crocea or maxima's or anything...

I think the price is a little higher than 30 though. Either way, it's a smokin deal.

Golds?

Where and who is this gold's i cant find them in the phone book.

Delphinus 02-01-2006 06:10 PM

Name's actually "Gold Aquariums" which is probably why you're having trouble finding it in the book. (They are there, just in a different spot than you're looking). The # is something like 273-5567 and they're on 17th Av SE.

G1GY 02-01-2006 09:41 PM

Not much for clams there right now and it's been a long time since they sold any for $30.00.

But I did manage to get an Emerald crab. :)

OCDP 02-01-2006 10:02 PM

Noooo.. sent you a PM G1GY.

G1GY 02-02-2006 02:50 AM

Did you manage to get one Scott?

AndyL 02-02-2006 03:02 AM

Depends on the size/color. Back in dec/jan there were some tiny (2"ish) ?crocea? that were selling for 35 - if you asked dennis - albert wanted 90

But you aren't going to get a 6" teardrop maxima for 30... Crazy edmontonians!!!

$30 dollar clam! I would be worried what kind of diseases you could catch, if you know what I mean.

hey, I am not saying that I believed it..
that is why I had to ask..sounded too good to be true..and as the old saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true....
tough crowd here...lol
thanks for the help in clearing this up for us "crazy" edmontonians.
Now i am gonna go back to the nicer, friendlier edmonton area forum...ouch
thanks
Neal

Man.. how do these LFS's justify the pricing system.... I have noticed this too at my LFS. There's no price or anything listed on the tank.. then you ask one person for a price, and sometimes you get a completely different price from another person. It doesn't make any sense to me.... it's like they charge what they want per person..

Anyone else think that it's kind of a weird?

albert_dao 02-03-2006 03:52 AM

Andy is just being an 4sshole. My prices are never off from Dennis's by $5.

He can go home.

blood_hound 02-03-2006 04:26 AM

If you shop around town you'll find that prices in Gold's are the cheapest and most justified. But I do agree with you that some of the LFS here in town has crazy prices its like their charging you from every penny they spend for their store and if ask the person in the store its like their adding a bite more on the price

Andy

I would not say that I think Albert give me more discount than dennis does.
