CO2 Scrubber

I am thinking of building a CO2 scrubber to raise my pH which I have always had issues with in the winter. BRS sells this canister: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/universal-air-filter.html
Anybody see anything similar for sale in Canada?

I was running a TLF 150 with their CDX media for while. Worked well and easy to get the bits.

You bought the media from BRS? I was thinking it may be available from a local dive shop as well because it is used in rebreathers.

I actually bought it from drsfostersmith. Looks like they're clearing it out and brs doesn't have it in stock. Wonder if it's being pulled...

You can get that style housing from any waterworks supply store, it's a standard 2.5x10" filter housing.

filter canister..

I am looking for a larger one.... or adding a second one in line..

My soda lime will last about a week before it is depleted..

may be different for other skimmers,,,

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will check out the local water softener place.

Do you run your scrubber 24x7 ?

Charles

scrubber..

yes 24/7
not sure if it makes much difference at night...

my tank really rises in pH during "Lights ON" time..
going to try to bypass at night and see if that makes much difference..

I would think running the scrubber at night and bypassing during the day would be the way to go. pH rises when running the scrubber, so running at night would counter act the usual drop in pH that happens.

Curious what skimmer you're running. I'm about to start scrubbing and wonder how long the media will last.

Where do you get your soda lime kengeroo?

yep

running it during the day does help out a lot in raising the pH...
Like I said my tank is really stubborn whne it comes top the pH... I've peaked at the low 8.20's lately..

I have three of the regular filter housing from my old RODI system. Might hve to look into building one too as I also have slightly lowered ph due to the co from my reactor.
