muck 11-17-2004 05:21 AM

I dunno Tony... $1,000,000 was my maximum and its already way past that.

Tarolisol 11-17-2004 06:22 AM

Now the question is are those 41 bids real, and if they are im going to be making alot of grilled cheese sandwhiches this week. And ive got a toaster that tells the future starting bid 1.5 million, ill keep it low... let the bidding war begin.

DukeB 11-17-2004 04:26 PM

Darn it!
I guess the one I have is a knock off!

christyf5 11-17-2004 07:25 PM

Looks more like Mary-lin Monroe...

Delphinus 11-17-2004 07:48 PM

I was thinking maybe Madonna.

As in Material Girl, Madonna Louise Ciccone, back in the 80's, not the cockney accented über diva of present day.

It does two slices and prints your future in the burnt parts of the toast. Im lowering the bidding to 1 million. Any takers.

Aquattro 11-17-2004 08:38 PM

I'd "buy it now" for a mil, but I need a 4 slice future telling toaster. And Bagels are a must. Sorry.

Tarolisol 11-17-2004 08:53 PM

Sorry just two, you might be able to cram in the begals but the fortune might come out smudged.

Rikko 11-17-2004 10:41 PM

Tarolisol 11-18-2004 06:43 AM

christyf5 11-18-2004 03:39 PM

I think ebay thought it was a hoax and took the auction down. After they figured that it was real it was reposted and I think it started from the beginning.

Christy :)

muck 11-18-2004 03:59 PM

There are a ton of them it seems...
I found this one quite humurous.

DiscusZ 11-19-2004 03:10 AM

Hell this silly auction also got attention in the Calgary Sun, and Calgary Hearld.. Sheesh.. time to try and make something stupid and sell it on Ebay.

That Link is dead Ryan/ What was it about?

Jim

Tarolisol 11-19-2004 09:08 AM

And so it begins, I am goin to try and sell someing really stupid on ebay for lots of money. I am looking for ideas of what it should be. And I cant part with my future telling toaster.

albert_dao 11-20-2004 02:29 AM

Man, if I was filthy, stinkin' loaded and had money to blow like that, I'd buy that stupid ten year old grilled cheese and eat it just to spite the seller. What the crap?

SeaHorse_Fanatic 11-22-2004 07:21 AM

I apologize in advance if I insult any Catholics reading this but....

does anyone but some "naive" Catholics really think that God would actually try to communicate with us by putting the Virgin Mary's "likeness" on grilled cheese sandwiches, window panes & other places. Yes, God in his infinite wisdom and fairness gave this person a grilled cheese icon to eBay. What a scam. That's not FAITH, that's mass hysteria or maybe some good weed. You know what PT Barnum said, "There's one born every minute!" (or was it second?)

PS. I'm neither Catholic, nor a joint-meister; although I'm married into a Catholic family who'll believe anyone if they say they saw a vision

You'd give a million dollars to the seller to spite her? Do you think the seller is going to feel bad after she gets a cool million into her account? I doubt she's going to feel bad about it. She'll probably laugh all the way to the bank.

Before the item was pulled off the website for being a hoax, bidding was well over a million. Well, somehow, this person convinced EBAY that the auction is authentic.. Only approved bidders can bid now. Well, the auction has closed with a winning bid of $28,000. So, who's the lucky buyer?

Samw 11-23-2004 09:10 AM

Well, let me answer my own question.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6511148/

"‘Virgin Mary grilled cheese’ sells for $28,000
Online casino wins eBay auction for 10-year-old 'holy' snack"

Only in America does such great opportunities exist.

Indeed I would! We're all talking of the hypothetical here. Who said anything about being reasonable.

Samw 11-23-2004 06:28 PM

I understand. I was just saying that by giving her the money, she would not feel your spite. Maybe I'm wrong. But it would definitely be entertaining to watch you eat the $1 million ($28,000 now) sandwich.

And that's the thing, the whole entertainment value of watching it. I mean, c'mon, this is the most ridiculous item I have ever seen, including the false Britney Spears toenail clippings going for upwards of $1,500.

Hell, though she may not feel the spite, I'm sure there'd be religious zealots all over the planet who would flood my mailbox with hate if it was publicized.

Yes, I like to stir the pot.

Rock on i would do it too and make sure it was on national TV. I can see the headlines now: "‘Virgin Mary grilled cheese’ sells for $28,000
Kris Willard wins eBay auction for 10-year-old 'holy' snack, then eats it, Catholic church falls..."
I would make sure to reply to every hateful letter. hell if you have that kind of money you prob dont have anything better to do.

Kris
