New LFS in Langley

Hey all just wanted to let you know there is a large new fish store open in langley. They have fresh and saltwater fish. They also have some corals. Eric the owner told me he is getting a 300 piece coral order and a saltwater fish order on friday night so there will be tons of saltwater creatures for sale on sat morn. The place is still under construction but once its done it will be an impressive store. Lets all try to support this guy as it will be nice to have a large LFS on this side of the Port Mann. The store is called "Fish Addicts" and it is at 5676 Production Way, Langley.

Awesome! Good news!

duncangweller 08-30-2016 10:04 PM

Thats great news. So they are open now?

neeper 08-30-2016 10:26 PM

yes, i agree it'll be nice having to not drive across the tolled port mann

langley reefer 08-30-2016 10:58 PM

Yes they are open now. The fish area is still under construction, probably about half of the tanks are up and running.

They have a facebook page. Just type "fish addicts" into the search

Their not brand brand new, this is just their upgraded larger location. They used to be located right behind their new location so not much of a move at all.
I went in the beginning of August after speaking to the owner on the phone as I was looking for a new tang to replace my rotten Kole. Their salt section was severely lacking and HEAVILY infested with Ick. But I was told all the fish were just fine because he gave the system a quick dose of something  got to watch a very pretty powder brown tang get eaten alive by its tank makes with an employee right beside me. Their freshwater section was quite nice.... however I am doubting I would ever go back...
They have nothing on J&L.

Is this the guy that used to be on the bypass by the hot tub shop?

That place was a nightmare before.

nope. I believe this guy is not that person. IMO, their F/W stocks are one of the best in town but S/W section needs improvement. They just started S/W section so I'm giving them chance.

I do agree with coasting on ICK though. they did not look good at all. I will probably go back in sometime September to check again.

they have been around for a while now. I have good things to say about the fresh water. cant comment on salt yet

duncangweller 08-31-2016 08:58 PM

Just visited the shop. Small equipment section but loads of tanks set up for fresh. Not much salt just yet but a load coming in on Saturday as mentioned earlier. He said most of his shipments sell right out of the boxes which was a little odd but he seems keen so that's promising.

langley reefer 09-04-2016 10:36 PM

Went in there today. No corals yet, order got pushed till next fri or sat. Tons of nice fish though.

corallivore 09-08-2016 06:49 PM

This place is more island pets and less jl aquatics.

Animal-Chin 09-09-2016 03:54 PM

Speaking of new fish stores, the Abbotsford store Pet Lovers has moved across the hall and they're expanding the salt section. Right now they have the same amount of tanks but they've set up probably 10 more big salt tanks and once they are all cycled and settled they're going to start ordering. Looks pretty good, was there last night.

corallivore 09-09-2016 05:26 PM

Is that the one in seven oaks or whatever that little strip mall is?

They aren't fancy, but you can tell when you go in there they definitely have some staff who care about the tanks.

Some nice stuff, I assume from trade ins, from time to time there and sometimes pricing is even better than in Burnaby.

Animal-Chin 09-09-2016 08:14 PM

Ya in teh little mall with London Drugs. Been really happy with my fish from there, all really healthy. Coral prices are really good to and sometimes they have some cool peices I haven't seen elsewhere. I like it.

Any idea if they have any 1 spot foxfaces in Stock? Jl and king eds do not and I'm looking to get rid of my bristle tooth tang for one.

Apeeciate the offer Luke but that fish requires a bit larger tank than I have. A 1 spot fox face is even pushing it for me but should be fine.

Was at the Langley store for the first time, cool place. Owner is really friendly. Picked up a gorgeous sail fin tang. The coral shipment is now supposed to be in in the 15th, it gort bumped again.

I liked the vibe there, I'll be back for sure.

I will have to check this place out when I hit the mainland again.

I really wish Victoria had a full reefstore. I find the ones here are a bit out of date and older. Oh wells

Was in there earlier this afternoon and talked with Eric the owner for a while. He comes across as a decent guy that seems pretty humble in goals for the store. Grew it from something like 6 tanks almost two years ago to his, I'd guess like 50-60 tanks currently? A lot of Cichlid varieties for the freshwater people.

Salt was very much a work in progress, there was almost nothing left in terms of livestock as it's been selling very quickly he said. Also planning to get a display tank going near the fish area entrance, and judging by the skimmer it should be a fairly large tank.

If you're local, probably worth checking out when his livestock shipments come in. More options are always good.
