GVRD Social Meet October 10th.
 

Everybody back from holidays? Did you get the kiddies off to school? Are you ready for the indoor Autumn weather?

It's that time again, our somewhat monthly social meet!

Saturday, October 10th @ 4 PM.

Townhall Public House, 925 Brunette Ave, Coquitlam. 10 min drive from J&L.

Come on down and talk tank with some hardcore reefing geeks. Great way for newbies to make contacts and ask questions.

Just putting this out there...

Other option is to have the GVRD Social Meet at my place. If the weather is good, we can hold it on my covered deck (40' long x 14-20' wide so plenty of room. I have 2 big Weber BBQs we can fire up and if everyone wants to just chip in say $10-15, I can prep, marinate and bbq all the foods, including pork ribs, chicken, maybe some sockeye, etc. I'm located in South Burnaby (4 minutes from King Ed's & 12 minutes from J&L).

Kids & significant others are welcome (have a playhouse/treehouse, 2 greenhouses and large garden for those not interested in looking at the reef tanks, baby tortoises or koi.

I'm flexible on time so we can start in the afternoon and run it till dark or whatever works for everyone.

The time is adjustable. If the majority of members would prefer a later time, that can be arranged.

Supposedly due to a record large el Nino down south, this fall and winter is supposed to be a record setting wet year. So they say. So I think we can bank on october being rainy lol.

I will be at town haller for the 1 lb burger! I am good with anytime.

Got something going on October 3rd I just found today about it.
So I won't be able to make that gathering. :sad:

If the 3rd is the issue couldn't we perhaps move it out a week to the 10th?

We could, however I think the issue is more of it being on a Saturday.

I think a later time on Saturday would work for most people, or how about a week night?
I think a restaurant where we could get a big table to sit around that licensed and a wider food selection would be a plus and little quieter as well, Just my opinion, thoughts and suggestions anyone?

Ok, so I've changed the date and time to accommodate a few members. Hopefully this creates some more attendance.

Suggestions have been noted and we'll be changing it up in the future. I'm hoping to organize the next meet for North Vancouver. Weeknights are harder for us 9 to 5'ers, but we will manage.

Anthony has graciously offered to host a Bar-B-Que meet at his place. As we are heading into crappy weather, hopefully we can make that happen next spring/summer. Perhaps we could even make this into a frag swap.

Restaurants will be included in future meets, as I do agree with Laurie's reasoning.

I'm also interested in organizing a tank tour. If you'd like to show off your tank and are willing to have a few reef geeks trodding through your house, please shoot me a PM and we can work on bringing this together in another thread.

Another successful meet, turnout getting larger and some new faces. Thanks for coming out people!

Yes beer was drank, wings, nachos and even a turkey leg and turkey burger were consumed. New people, old people, bull spread all around. Good time had hopefully by all.

Great seeing some new faces as well as all the people that usually come out.
