Haha, I mentioned that to Brad and I think he'll let it slide as long as the organism is in the Anthozoa class. :)

brandonpauley 02-10-2015 02:41 AM

Haha thanks for all the compliments on my pic. I know it's not a true coral, but hey when am I ever going to get to show it off!
BTW, the full high res pic looks way better, can see all the little neon strips in each of it's tentacles, tough to see in a low res pic :)

Mindy brings up a very good point. We can have a very lengthy discussion (no, not here) about what a coral is exactly. The long and short of it is, a coral is a very general term that describes pretty much anything in the class anthozoans. This includes anemones.

Seriously though, let's not have that discussion here. We want pictures ! Feel free to discuss what a "coral" is/means in (coral) discussion thread. For the purposes of looking at pretty pictures, the general definition is good enough

That is all, carry on.

Here's a Bonsai that turned out nice. It might look like I post-processed my photos like crazy. But nope, the Kessils put out so much blue and white light, I only have to apply automatic white balance to all of my photos. But I do have to dial down the camera's exposure. Otherwise, the raw photo is way too bright.

To see the raw image straight from my camera, here's the link: https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...3e&oe=5548507E

I was thinking of letting the staff choose. See if my luck turns. :)

Yes, and I have nothing but good things to say about them all.

Samw 02-15-2015 07:36 AM

A couple of more photos. I think red is the color for Valentine's Day coral and I do love this coral so I'll pick this photo for the official entry. It's an encrusting Goniopora.

This photo was taken only 17 days after I installed the Kessils. This pink Bird's Nest coral was more tan than pink before installing the Kessils.

Even though I'm pretty sure already that I'm going to vote for brandpauley's tube anemone because the photo is SO good; as promised, here's an updated photo of my rainbow brain. I guess I should use this as my entry. It's hard to choose between this one and the yellow Plate in my avatar.

Yeah, I've seen lots of rainbow Brains just as nice as mine, but I've never seen a yellow Plate as nice as mine. I think you have to be a Plate enthusiast to appreciate it though, and it seems most everyone likes a rainbow Brain. The Plate is irreplaceable. http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/ima...neric/lust.gif

I would vote for the rainbow brain as well! LOVE that brain! :-D
