My last setup: 2 x 175w MH - 2 x 110w VHO Actinic - Hamilton 14K bulbs. Absolutely LOVED the color, my favorite light setup in the entire 15 years I was in the hobby.

Two Lumen Max 3s on a Sunlight Supply Blueline(?) 250W dual magnetic ballast which is probably no longer made. Phoenix DE 14K bulbs.

Sunlight Supply maristar combo fixture with 3x250 watt DE running 14K Pheonix and 4x39 watt T5s running 22K KZ Superblues.

Here it is burning a nice hole in my wall..

^that was a full room shot of the tank from back in August 2009. It's been 5 years and I am still running the exact same fixture with the exact same bulb combo (new bulbs of course). I did repaint the light fixture to silver to change things up.

2014 FTS.

Wow just under 900 watts of lighting, the tank looks awesome.
Your lighting pretty much takes up 1 whole circuit.

4 X 250 watt Lumenmax3 pendants driven by Blue Wave ballasts with Pheonix 14 K - (too bad the bulbs have been discontinued)
1 x Radion LED fixture (replaced a Hamilton pendant last Dec on the RH front corner)
12 X T5 54 Watt across the back.

Are you sure they are discontinuing Phoenix 250w 14k bulbs?

globaldesigns 11-02-2014 08:42 PM

I am running 2x 250W with brand new Pheonix 14k bulbs. Ballasts are brand new Lumanex 250/400W eballasts running at 250w SL (Super Lumens). I also stripped out the 2x 5ft T5's and replaced with 2x 4ft super blue LED's

That's very disappointing to hear. I was about to make the jump to Halides as I'm not completely happy with T5's. I guess T5's are the best option in Reef lighting for now unless there is another similar Halide lamp.

Does anyone know of a lamp comparable to the Phoenix 14k?

Ryanerickson 11-02-2014 09:36 PM

Radiums are nice but more pricey about 90 a bulb

globaldesigns 11-02-2014 09:47 PM

Are the DE Pheonix 14k discontinued? I just bought 4 without issue, and JL just brought in more. So I don't think those are gone.

Yes they did. They stopped production 100% and said it will never be made again.

It may take a while for the stock levels to deplete but once it does, that's it.

LOL. I had to go check! Thankfully no. I think the wall paint I used is UV protected.

Yikes! I guess I know what I'll be stocking up on in the next few weeks.
