Experience

Funniest thing ever last night a couple of university students doing summer jobs at a local thrift store I generally don't go in them but tonight I was glad I did. They were gathered around an old Panasonic TV from the '80's it was plugged in but they could not figure out how to turn it on and were looking for the remote to turn it on. They were puzzled to the extreme I saw the problem and went up to the TV and turned the power knob on and then grabbed the channel dial and told them this is how you changed channels.

Their looks were priceless and I couldn't resist so I opened my mouth "experience beats intelligence every time!"

priceless

Lol nice. Still remember rabbit ears and having to hit the TV to get the picture

having to hit the TV to get the picture

Yeah, those tubes needed persuasion now and then.

We had a color tv but had no sound so we put the old black and white tv on top of it for sound

Our TV in the rumpus room was a 13". And main was a 27" now that size is computer monitors

At one time if you had a 27" you were living the highlife now anything smaller than a 32" is considered living on the cheap

When I was a teen, we had an oak floor model TV. Thought it was the best thing ever because the remote had a magnet to hold it on the TV and could be pushed in so it was flush, or pop it out to remove. My parents actually still have it.....that would make a cool fish tank....hmmmmm...

OMG I feel so old now. Black and White TV. That is all. Carry on.

black and white maybe 22" with an outdoor antenna and a stainless colander for a better signal:biggrin:

Between my dad's record collection and mine we had just over 300 records dad was an Elvis fan so lots of those and tons of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and others of that era. My record collection was mostly of '60's and '70's "pop and rock" with several kids records thrown in.

That all died when cassette tapes came in

On a side note who remembers http://www.mikanet.com/museum/item.php?item=107

I still have a player somewhere, lol

intarsiabox 07-29-2014 03:42 AM

I had a little mini record player as kid that could play the records for the read-a-long books they came with. My parents had a nice cabinet record player and 8-track unit. The 8 track ate tapes but the record player had a really rich sound to it, lasted over 40 years before it finally died.

Priceless moment was when my friend's 5 year old asked her if grandma and grandpa let her play with the iPad when she was little :) I remember when phones had cords stuck to the wall and rotary dials. My iPhone has more computing and graphics power than the $75,000 Silicon Graphics Unix machines we used to use in University about 18 or 20 years years ago.

Man I'm getting old...
