a whale hunt is actually a whale hunt

wow, it took how long to figure that out?

from wiki: The International Court of Justice rules that Japan's whale hunt is not for scientific purposes and must be halted.

Coral Hoarder 04-01-2014 03:57 AM

Yay !!!!!! Huge win !

monocus 04-01-2014 04:04 AM

whale hunt

only took them 30 years to figure out what we knew right away

Coral Hoarder 04-01-2014 04:07 AM

Hey I can't complain they figured it out no mater how long it took that's in retro spect lol

FishyFishy! 04-01-2014 04:23 AM

Omg thats amazing!!! Watching whale wars and similar shows was just ridiculous. I couldn't believe they were allowed to do that for so long. Whales FTW!!!!

I'm just so happy that finally someone realized that japan was simply using a scientific research loophole to justify making money harvesting whales. Really big win for the oceans.

trilinearmipmap 04-01-2014 05:35 AM

I don't think this will stop them from whaling. If there was a widespread consumer boycott of Japanese automotive and electronic products, the whaling would top.

Now we wait for Japan to appeal, not stopping their hunt in the meantime, and then when they lose the appeal we have to wait and see if they decide to stop without enforcement (unlikely). It’s a big win for the movement to save the whales, no question there, but I wonder if hunting caused even a fraction of the CURRENT pressure on whales. I’m thinking pollution, changes to their food source, collisions with large ships, etc. are much more problematic.

:nono:Now if we could just stop the butchering of the sharks for their fins, that would be huge!!!

Too bad Japan is basically ignoring the ruling :/

Proteus 04-01-2014 05:30 PM

What about Iceland and Norway?

ReEf BoSs 04-01-2014 07:11 PM

Japan will just do a little more made up research this time that's still the loop hole. Basically just push some useless paper work .

Well, Iceland straight up refused to acknowledge and sign up for the international moratorium. Norway initially was part of the deal, but later renounced their participation when "protection for vulnerable/endangered cetaceans" morphed into "ALL cetaceans".

Humans are poison , a parasite ..
To dominate and destroy everything.
I could never really understand the hate in this world,
Because the people I grew up beside wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing..

That they slaughtered and killed animals that don't need to be.

That they dumped thousands of gallons of crude into a city's drinking water.

That they bombed a place so bad nothing will ever grow or live there.

The list goes on... In the name of money.
It's as if you only made money to do something destructive .
Whether its retail, commercial, or industrial
80 % of people go to work and help destroy

:(
