sponge

saw that at king eds-they told me it was a mushroom

Magickiwi 12-04-2013 06:26 PM

Yeah I'd say mushroom probably. Doesn't look like any sponge I've seen.

tang daddy 12-04-2013 07:03 PM

300% ain't no mushroom. First if all it's not slimy and doesn't have a mouth, secondly it has a rubbery texture and is abit like porous.

Anyone else want to take a stab to identify??

I'm guessing the guy who names the zoas doesn't do sponges.

The colour is crazy intense, it's really that blue in person. I've only seen purple ones.

Ron99 12-06-2013 06:24 AM

Lol! Yeah. Blue photosynthetic sponge, (Collospongia sp.) would be my guess. Hey, come up with a cool name and you can sell frags for an obscene amount of money :-D

Did you say blue photosynthetic? Aren't these found at lower depths?
I can't think of a fancy pants name but if I do hopefully it will hockey stick.

Note that the blue sponge needs high light.

+1 needs LOTS of light, fairly common on this side of the woods.

Thanks guys for the info. I was just bedazzled by the colour.

hunggi74 12-06-2013 09:47 PM

Hey Chris, just remember to add "ultra" at the front of whatever name you give your sponge frags...that's where the $$$$ at yo!!!

milou 12-10-2013 07:22 AM

I think i've seen the green variety of that sponge, more like emerald green. That intense blue is very rare, first time i've seen it.
