Coral wholesale

We are pleased to announce we are now offering corals to retail also.

How does this work?

1. locate a coral you like from the link below
2. contact your LFS
3. We will arrange delivery to your LFS

We are anti photoshop!
All corals are photographed as natural as possible absolute no photo shopping. This is evident in the background natural rock colour.(no deep blue etc etc) Any enhancement comes from the lighting only as it would in your own system.

We believe in true WYSIWYG!

Take a look

Any chance you'd look into anemones?

SeaHorse_Fanatic 09-28-2013 04:50 PM

Some beautiful specimens but I don't see any designations, names or prices. Not sure how we would order or is it like "twenty third piece, red one, from the left"?

I was thinking the same thing! Great pieces though! Also, I don't see any natural rock in the background of any of those photos? :-)

First pic is tagged DSC00260. And when scrolled through the number changes.

Easier if you post the link like this:

Some really nice stuff there!

lastlight 09-28-2013 05:45 PM

You might need to white-balance some though. For example these are the same piece. Sometimes photoshop is your friend.

Ummmm hummmm and the pony express was likely faster than the process of "retailer asking price, retailer forwarding price, consumer saying yes will take it,retailer ordering then". ......oops already sold.

Aqua-Digital 09-28-2013 06:53 PM

Oh the canreef negative crew are out in force already that did not take long did it  Cmon guys you should no better than that on my forum it never ends well ;)

1. the link is just a quick example of course an ordering from menu will be developed
2. Lastlight - the idea is NOT to make the photo look better than the coral you are actually getting thats simply misleading and something most retailers complain of.
3. Jorjef - WHEN a coral is reserved by someone through a dealer, its reserved, it would be a very poor dealer to then go and sell that to someone else.
4. Pricing - ask your retailer to contact us, this is wholesale but with the ability for reefers to cherry pick themselves direct from wholesale.

Our ultimate aim is not to have a select to order but the corals available widely, of course not the same piece at every store just before I get a post about that also ;)

Anything else negative? cmon dont dissapoint me :)

Just having some fun with you guys!! :twised: Thanks for all your interest in this new service already.

I'm sorry if you viewed some of those comments as being negative. I think that people were just seeking clarification on the process as well as providing feedback.

Aqua-Digital 09-28-2013 07:54 PM

Its all good ;)

Once we have the full database set up we will post more details.

Ultimately the success of this new branch depends on the buying public so we have to get it right. A few things may need ironing out but I dont think we have ever failed yet so keeping fingers crossed we can meet everyones high requirements.

This of course is a wholesale venture but we wanted to share it with eveyone so they can have the chance of self picking if you so choose to., we will try and make that process as easy as possible.

You serious Michael? I was beng helpful with both the link and the comment regarding photoshop to establish consistent white balance across photos. At the very least one of those photos isn't accurate. You posted a link to those exact photos while denouncing the use of Photoshop. My posts were not meant to be negative.

If you're looking for negativity all the time perhaps you'll find it.

My point was with the lag time in communications between wholesaler, retailer and consumer its not uncommon to have the coral in question sold when a person goes to order it. Happened to me more than once and it's a draw back that won't have me trying again anytime soon

Ya, I can see that being a problem. For one, my LFS isn't a customer. He'd have to create an account. Then get a price. Then get back to me. I have to make up stories to wife. Get back to LFS, Then back to AD. Very likely, if it's a nice piece, it's gone already. Repeat. Not a method I would use. If I want coral, I'll go to WYSIWYG sellers and order immediately online.

Yep, new shipment in shortly we will post the photos with correct order numbering, pricing will be down to the retailer.

Chipie 09-29-2013 04:34 PM

I think it's a great idea. Can't wait to see those sps :) My closest lfs is Derek's reef shop.

I think the problem is your the first line of your original post. "We are pleased to announce we are now offering corals to retail also." This makes it sound like this is fully up and running right now but when clicking on the link provided all that comes up is several photos with no info what so ever. I guess in the end it will depend on the co-operation and costs charged by the LFS's if this will work smoothly or not. It sounds like it is a great idea that I may try out depending on if there is a huge shipping levy for a single coral vs doing group buys with other on-line vendors and getting free or almost free shipping. I'll be tagging along to see when you're fully up and running with this!
