Looking for external skimmer recommendations

I have a 350 gallons total water and want to see what is best and reliable skimmer for price wise. Planning on mixed reefs near future. Thank you for your inputs.

Where did you buy your skimmer?

brotherd 09-18-2013 09:02 PM

Ordered directly from Jeff at lifereef.com. The 6 foot tall one is rated for 1000 gal.

reefme 09-18-2013 09:43 PM

And how big is your tank?

brotherd 09-18-2013 09:45 PM

180. System volume is closer to 280.

180G and you ordered a 6 foot tall. It's rated for 1500G+. Also did you ordered together with the pump?

brotherd 09-18-2013 09:57 PM

Also is it easy to remove the skimmer cup.

brotherd 09-18-2013 10:04 PM

Not currently running at 6 feet tall.5 foot tall but I have the extension ready to go soon.I did get the pump with it. Yes it's overkill for my system but wth:)

I shut the skimmer pump off, release the quick connect tubes, unscrew the nylon bolts a bit and lift the top off as 1 unit.Clean it,reinstall and fire it up.No adjustments required.
