2010 Full Tank Shots

As a continuation of Danny's post from 2009 - Why not post our 2010 Full Tank Shots. Maybe post your 2009 along with the 2010 so we can see what changes the last year had brought.

frd72: Just curious, is that a CPR overflow box you have? If so, have you had any problems with it 'cause I'm thinking of getting one.

it is not CPR overflow, i made a small box out of acrylic and since the bottom was tempered glass i can only drill on the sides. I drilled two holes in there for overflow..

thanks,
teddy

RIPTANK 03-17-2010 09:27 PM

Thanks teddy! Looks like I'll have to do the same thing with my 90 gal Osaka. Get someone to drill a couple holes and install an overflow box. I just don't trust them external overboxes...

Very nice! Looks like it was done by an artist. What kind of lights do you have ?

lastlight 03-18-2010 05:11 AM

Whatcanyedo...still one of my favs on here. Layout is so nice.

whatcaneyedo 03-18-2010 06:48 AM

I'm running two 250W DE 14K Phoenixes in Lumenmax 3's. I always get too much glare off of the sand when I take a picture but the rest of the colors are pretty true to life. There were also 6 fish in there when I took the picture... all of which seem to be a little camera shy.

Man did I ever drop the ball, normally I'd have started the full tank shot thread in the first week of January. Thanks to Parker for being on the ball.

Thank you! That last photo there has to be one of my favorites, I finally figured out the blue/ red balance on my camera and the contrast between the high noon sun and the blue lights makes a really great shot!

Image quality isn't good. That's with the 22K and Actinic so it's nice and blue once daylights are off. Can't seem to get the white balance right.

Anyway, this was taken this afternoon. Two nights ago I tore everything out of the tank and used a wire brush to scrape off all the Hair Algae that was overtaking my tank.

I ran out of RO water tonight while rinsing out the new sand, so if anyone was wondering, it won't be BB. I also but up my blue background again after I took the pic.

Here's my most recent one as I attempt to regain color in my SPS

Additionally, does anyone have recommendations for settings (manual or otherwise) for getting the best out of my Canon G10 camera when taking full tank shots? I can do a little post-processing in Aperture to try to get things back to reality but I'd really appreciate any insight with respect to taking nice pics with this particular camera.
