My mantis is in my `fuge with my macro. Sometimes he comes out of his rock and crawls around on it. Does the picture have to be of just macro or can my mantis be in the photo as well? Just curious thanks, Laurie

Lance 11-02-2008 02:21 PM

Laurie, he means a macro shot (close-up). Not macro algae.

Ahhh... the mighty bristleworm lol....

Taken with a Nikon D40 ...using random settings (my settings are always random lol) and the background was darkened a little with photoshop. (There were a couple of specks and pods on the glass taking your eye away from the main subject)

Hope you like - I was going for "simple" :)

Man so far these pics are awesome! So good it's given me an idea which I'll post later and see what people think.

Doug 11-06-2008 10:08 PM

Now that I have a keyboard, that actually works. :D

My pics were taken with a cheapie Sony digital and a mag glass. So perhaps not the same quality as some of the macro shots, it can be done.

and awsome idea for the selling of pictures!

I wish i had the fifty kickin around for a picture

justinl 11-07-2008 02:42 AM

great idea steve! In that case, ill enter the red flabellina nudibranch picture and not the velcro star/radulinis pic. Technically the latter belongs to the aquarium since I took it during work. the flabellina pic can be sold.

so if someone wants to buy a photo, would you contact the photographer on a case by case basis? because Im certain a bunch of these pics have been reduced from their normal size and better prints could be produced from their original quality files.

Sounds good.

If a picture is purchased I will do my best to contact the photographer and request a full size picture to be sent to me by email. Members can email me full size pictures ahead of time if they wish (sphelps@sasktel.net). I will place the username or other specified name on the picture just as I have been doing before posting all pictures for voting.

Ryan_Lap 11-07-2008 03:21 AM

Yup a great idea Steve! Cant see a problem with that at all. Only good things to come from it.

Aquattro 11-07-2008 03:30 AM

Hmm, "IF" I enter a photo, it certainly is NOT for sale. It's mine, and if I want it sold, I'd sell it myself. And if someone really likes it, they can have a copy of the original and go get it printed.
