Hunggi74's 57g Illuminata

Hello everyone. I've had this tank sitting in my foyer for about two years now. I figure I'd better get it up and running before my infant boy is up and running:biggrin:. The other factor was $. Lots of $$$ which I wish I had. So I slowly got the equipment that I needed together and am now ready to start things up.
Water testing the tank. http://
My equipment list so far:
Illuminata 57 gallon tank
Ecosystems sump (thanks Frank)
Koralia Evolution 1050gph
Vortech MP10 (not the wireless model because ill never be able to afford two of those )
Cadlights Tia 1150 (on its way)
Eheim 1260 return pump
Maxspect Razor 160w 16000k LED
Reefkeeper Lite Plus
I built the stand out of 2x4 using a design off the web. I'm no carpenter that's for sure. Plumbed it with flexible hosing because I'm bound to make changes to the system. No valves, gates, because I'm no plumber either lol!
This is today with the lights set up and the tank full of freshwater to leak test everything.
http://
I have 50lbs. of Marco rock in aRubbermaid with another 20lbs. of Fiji and Bali live rock curing all together so I've got another 3-4 weeks to set up the rest of the equipment.

Update

I had major algae issues while running mostly LPS tank. I had every kind of algae possible in a reef tank and they all thrived. I gave up and decided to redo the tank contents from scratch. Had to house the livestock I was going to keep in a 20 gallon for a month while redo was going on. Decided to try Zeovit as the tanks I saw were all beautiful and mostly algae free lol.
And thanks to the bad influences of some people (Jess, Rich, Chris, JESS!!) I caught the SPS bug:sad: I can count my non SPS frags with the fingers of one hand and my money leftover with digits of the other hand. Sigh
The tank was reborn beginning of this April:

As of July:

Colours are very pale and I am currently working on adding/keeping more nutrients in the tank to feed the corals.
Thanks for looking and not laughing.

Who me? I take absolutely no responsibility lol , ok maybe a little.

Tank looks great buddy , I was just over at Hung's place on the weekend and the tank looks amazing. I can't wait till it fills in.

Bblinks 08-18-2015 06:55 PM

Tank is the poster child for all zeovit tanks. Amazing looking sps Hung, keep up the great work.

You were right to capital JESS's name, I blame him too.

duncangweller 08-18-2015 08:40 PM

The colours look great. You have some beautiful frags there. The tank looks very healthy.

Update June 2016

[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]Well, tank has had its ups and downs. Still SPS crazy. Lost too many pieces to count. Even now, not much growth from frags that did survive, but colors are coming back and hopefully growth will follow. Luckily, I've met a very good group of guys here that have shared with me their knowledge and experiences. You guys know who you are. I thank you all truly.

No longer running Zeovit reactor, just BP now and Rowa in a reactor.

Very nice hungster!

Sahin 06-26-2016 09:19 PM

Beautiful corals. Another stunning tank in this forum. Would love to see more photos and maybe even a video. 😀

Myka 06-26-2016 09:26 PM

Nice goodies Hunggi! It looks like you have a soft spot for pinks/reds. I do too - I was looking at my tank thinking I should get some other colors in there.

I was inspired after seeing your tank on the weekend....for about 39 seconds. Then it sunk in that mine has a long ways to go to get the colors n growth you guys get. Hate hate hate lol

Stop being so modest! Everything is coming together and you got great colours. The tank will be filled in no time.... better start planning the upgrade!

hunggi74 02-14-2017 04:19 PM

Oh I've been busy!! So busy trying to get a certain BK Mini 180 working again... not!! Hahahahaha

hunggi74 02-14-2017 04:35 PM

So I moved in September and since no move is a proper move without upgrading your reef tank, that's what I did. I was the lucky person with the privilege of buying Mikepclo's tank as he was getting bored 😐 too much success does that to one I guess. I wouldn't know that's for sure lol I'm sure you've all seen his tank thread. I've got a lot to live up to. Failing hard lol
Tank is 48"x30"x19" custom sump simple in design. I'm using a Fluval SP6 for my return. Lots of flow. Overkill probably but the drains can handle it. I'm running an Avast BP reactor with some regular BP and a BRS reactor for rowaphos. I've switched from a Zeo system to a very basic AF system. Their Reef Salt and Component 123 is all I dose now. I love the simplicity of this product and my big three are stable. The tank transfer paled my corals and stunted I also lost some. To this day they're still very pale but some pieces are starting to head in the right direction so I am hopeful. Just enough to keep me still in the hobby lol I also bought an ATI dimmable Sunpower 8 bulb unit. No lack of light as the unit sits 7" above the waterline. The way the light rack was built, the fixture sits further back in the tank so you can still have your LPS and lower light SPS along the front of the tank.
I will upload pics when I have more time. Thanks for reading this.

This is all great but what i really wanny know is How's that bubble king coming along?

hunggi74 02-14-2017 06:14 PM

Arrggghhhhh!!!
Actually, BBlinks got frustrated and took it away last night. He's made more progress on it in half an hour than I've made in six months...I might have a procrastinating problem...

My mess of a sump. This is how it looks like not cleaned up for photos lol I turn off my skimmer after dosing aminos for corals. I run one sock and one without so the sps get something and I don't go nuts with debris floating around tank.

One sock on , and one empty ? Is that kinda like going out only wearing one shoe?

hunggi74 02-15-2017 12:21 AM

Mods!!! Sock harassment going on here...don't you have a new sump to design? More lighting to add?
