If you can wait a little longer Nikon will be releasing the D90 which means you should be able to get a brand new D80 with lens kit for around $800. Can't do much better than that.

When do you think the d90 will be out?

I think the d700 is a little out of the price range of $600 -$800 ;P.

D80 will be plenty of camera. If you can't wait for the d90 to come out, you can find one used with the kit lens for about your budget.

Unless your ready to spend another $600 -$800 on Lenses I'd stick to point and shoot.

Any other suggestions.

spoot 07-12-2008 05:50 AM

Well if you are looking for dslr, there are many other systems you can go with.

Fuji will allow you to use nikon lens, that I'm sure. There is also olympus, canon, sony etc.

michika 07-12-2008 02:01 PM

Go to a camera store and try them out. There are some stores that will allow you to purchase the camera for a week to try it out in your own home. You can also look at dpreview.com for camera reviews.
