Anybody dose Vitamin C

I was reading vitamin c plays a huge part in Coral calcification, I'm curious if anyone doses something specific for vitamin c.

Yup, Brightwells 3 times a week. Do I know if it's working? Nope.

George 02-26-2016 03:17 PM

Am just curious where corals get their vitamin C from in the oceans ;)

brisco 02-26-2016 03:18 PM

maybe I should float some oranges? Where does the ocean get vitamin C?

gobytron 02-26-2016 03:32 PM

Most animals produce their own.

I think Oysters for example have a decent amount of VC in them.

Ryanerickson 02-26-2016 03:50 PM

I dose brightwell vit c helps a bit bring out orange color maybe lol

Vita C

I use Sodium Ascorbate (Vit C)
for my Zoas.they seem to open up more and grow quicker.I had one zoa that wouldn't open up and after doseing for a short time it has opened and is growing. They say dose for a month and stop for three to four month.

I dose vitamin c to boost orange color and I also added into the food for my fishes.

Ult OP polyps turned green after acquiring the piece last year but the orange came back after dosing vit. C so I'm a believer in dosing it... JL didn't have any when I was over last week... Hmmmm

hunggi74 02-26-2016 09:05 PM

And mixing it in his fish food has really brought out the orange spot on his Achilles

Never had a chance to take any pics before to compare.

Roskoreef 02-26-2016 10:49 PM

Think selcon has enough to make a difference?

I feed selcon regularly, never noticed any difference in that sense.

Ryanerickson 02-27-2016 12:50 AM

Think it helps out clams with bits of orange keep it also high end sps like orange passion actually gets orange polyps. In no way is this gonna make a collection of brown coral turn orange 😉

AFTER

good enough?

gobytron 02-27-2016 02:35 PM

It's pretty, but without a before pic, it's not really much more than a nice pic of a nice coral, I can see how bright the oranges are for sure though.

Would really need to be pics taken before and after under same lighting to show what the difference is.

Not a big deal, just if somene did have a good example of dosing vc's effects, it would be interesting.

Lots of people advocating dosing it, so I'm sure there's some examples out there, I'll use my google..

You should do a six month test with your tank and share with us... And don't forget to take pics... We would be very interested to see if it will work for your corals in your tank... Couldn't hurt..... If anything would improve your corals and it's cheap. A splash of orange in all that brown would give it a nice contrast too!

SeaHorse_Fanatic 02-27-2016 05:30 PM

Well I had a bottle kicking around so I'm going to start dosing the fish & coral foods and see if it does anything.

acepumping 02-27-2016 06:03 PM

here is a before pic I found different lighting, but if you ain't starring at Brown corals for the last 10 yrs, then you will have some sense of color judgement towards the difference in lighting.

so please show me some of the different shades of brown you got!
before questioning everybody else

I just do recommended dosing on the container, but I know some people, cough cough, who double up. What's the worst that can happen, some brown coral maybe?

Eh? Brown is the new in colour... Didn't you know? Wish I know how to get some of those... I'll google Brown Raft and see if there are any....

I am currently dosing 20 ml, twice per week... If that means anything...
