Hey Dave, not sure if you guys noticed but there is no hanging kit in the box as was previously thought. :(
|
Dave quit giving Doug ideas lol
|
Glad you got your first batch in Dave, more on the way :)
Ecotech stated to us that not everyone will want to use a kit so adding it would unfairly increase the price for those that dont, and I think Ecotech are right in this policy. The units do come with 4 x M5 eye bolts Each corner bolt has a threaded screw in it this is M5 thread so you can make your own. To be fair to Ecotech, other LED companies also do not sell hanging kits included and Ai are no different. |

Some body got some new toys!!!!
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...e/IMG_0618.jpg sorry about the crap phone pics! Took a little while last night to get them strung up with a temporary wiring setup, but got them up and they are looking pretty sweet!! After getting the software/firmware setup on both, it was time to play! The interface is pretty simple to use, and programing the lights has been pretty straight forward. With the option of the different kelvin ratings raging from 5k to 20k and the ability to raise and lower the power throughout the day gives you the ability to set the light to any scenario. I switched out 2 - 250 watt halides to the two radions, but am still taking a bit of precautions for the first week and keeping the brightness around 70%. Although I am working on another lighting schedule that will have the lights on at 1pm at 100% with cloud cover for week two. I was a little worried about the spread of light with just the two lights, but the coverage is ample for the 48" of tank. All in all I'm quite happy with the Radions and will update more on my journal as things get both myself and my tank inhabitants get more accustom! Thanks again Dave! |

Good eye! A couple of reasons, I did not place them with the lights lit and it definitely does show that I placed them too close together (no plumb and working on the ceiling with a limp measuring tape and a magic marker did not help the situation at all!!), and with the lights dimmed it does look worse than it is.
After they were hung, and not having to worry about dropping light fixtures into the water, I was able to find the correct positioning of where they should be to get the spread of light I was referring too in my post above. Yes the tank is 48" |
Thanks, good info for those of us with 4 foot tanks. Nice to know two will do the job.
|
Coverage should be perfect for a 48" tank and two modules. The rated spread is 24" per module ;)
|
Dave do you have one over a tank thank I could check out in person? Better yet do you have a test/sample/demo unit that I could put over my tank and visually see the difference? I have two problems with LEDs right now.. 1. I have yet to see an LED fixture in person that I really liked. 2. They are an expensive experiment to try and find one you like.
