10 Gallon SPS Nano
So, unfortunately I have to shut down my 187 gallon due to a leaking roof, so I figure i'd set up something to keep my hobby going until I can get a big tank up and running again.
My Microwave took a second seat, as I placed it in the cubby designed for the microwave. Looks awesome where it is. For supplemental lighting, I think i'm going to do some DIY LED strips,
What a wicked place to put a tank, if you buy one or two of the 50W Blue LED Strip lights from ocean city finding snacks in the dark will never be a problem again .
Best part is there only $50.00 each and will work perfectly for your supplements (While the halide runs) , actinics (2 of them) and night lights (1 of them). |
I've never seem them there! I'll have to go take a look today
ooh and If your really set on keeping SPS in the long run you might have to sell of a few of those softies, unless you are running carbon you could get some nasty chemical warfare in a tank that size.
I am running Chemi Pure Elite in the First section of the fuge. Would that be enough? Though I have no issue getting rid of the softies.
Now I just have to find some SPS frags to test it out. |
dude you did a nice job of that tank! Anyways, that frogspawn i bought off of you is doing fine in case you were wondering.
Nice to hear! It was a nice piece for sure.
I'd be ok with a 10 Hour lighting cycle on this guy with the 70W right?
well it is a matter of PAR readings when it boils down to it. If that light can produce the PAR that your SPS needs then yah, it will be ok. Other than that you then start thinking about the color spectrum to try and 'contrl' the colors of your corals.
I think that light should be good for most SPS at that depth. Other than that keep that fuge rolling and the water clean and SPS should be fairly happy in that tank. |
