Finally, after YEARS of trying to find an upgraded magnet I nearly gave up. Yay for random finds that don't require the CDN-US exchange rate be involved.

Now all I need is a Calcium Reactor, and a few pheasant balls to proclaim my tank completely built!

Went to Edmonton this weekend and was thoroughly disappointed. Prices were all 20%+ more for the same products and no stock anywhere. I'm sad, I packed coolers and everything.

Did you try Marine Experience? He usually has lots of selection. Has a website now too.

Yeah, fish stock in Edmonton is pretty sparse from what I've seen. Never been to Marine Experience though, and everyone says that's the place to go. Are you looking for anything in particular?

Where's the place to go in Calgary these days?

michika 12-07-2016 03:04 AM

Livestock mostly was my goal. However there were some drygoods; T5 lamps, dosing chemicals, reactor media, back up parts/equipment.

Um, I'm actually not all that sure on where in Calgary anymore. I've been roaming between Oceans, Wai's and Pisces to meet my needs lately. I don't get a lot of opportunity to shop anymore, as I either buy in bulk or I'm cash flush when the stores are livestock poor. :( But sometimes things do align and I end up with bags on my office floor while I work out the last couple hours of my day.

Some photos from the tank cam. It really shows the green from non-low iron glass.

What are you using for a tank cam?

I have a cheap Foscam I got from Amazon. I think I paid either just over or under $100 for it. Does night view and can be remotely controlled. It's set up explicitly to avoid spying on people in the space, it's just for fish peeping.

Note the difference in the quality when streamed via the Apex vs the just Foscam app; above via Apex, below Foscam.

Thanks for the info. And wow that is a noticeable difference. I guess if the camera is exporting to something other than it's own native app that it's somehow sending out a lower resolution image?

How do you have the camera mounted? It looks like a fairly low viewing angle?

In my case I'd probably have to mount it on the ceiling like a security cam or something. In which case it would be aimed a bit downward. Probably not the best angle for viewing but it would still solve the superficial want of looking at the tank when not at home. And the worst case scenario someone of hacking in to spy would see the back of my head if I was looking at the tank, and well, I kinda see that as being more their problem than mine.

I think some of the newer cams have anti-glare algorithms
