How has the change affected your tank temp?
I need to get over and check this out! It's one thing to see one over coral (I still haven't) but yours is also a large tank and you're doing 2 rows which i most certainly would need to. Your pics look better in my eyes! |
Woah, that's sweet!!!!!!!!!!
Levi do you have any tips for saving zoas/paly's? I'm getting to my wit's end with them melting for no apparent reason. I lost my Jason Fox Blood Shot's and now my Space Monsters are melting away :cry::cry::mad::mad::mad: I don't have spiders, nudi's or pox or anything I can tell that's bothering them. I do have asterina stars but they never go anywhere near my zoa's/paly's. I did notice something a couple weeks ago, there was something strange looking on the inside stalk of my space monsters(notice the dark lines inside the far left play, this is also the one that melted on me a couple days ago) They also look skinny and so do a couple other of my paly frags. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/t...x/PC180004.jpg |
Dude I'm still waiting on what the frags I gave you look like under LEDs lol hint hint

Try putting a bit of flow on them I find mine opens right up when I direct some flow on them |

Sweet tank! I'm assuming your loving the Radions? How did you acclimate the tank to the LED's?
I've just started the switch, and I can tell everyone these Radions are really underrated IMO. Right now I have one side by side with a high end 400W 20k radium, and at 100% the Radion is brighter! I'm starting at 33% as to not bleach anything. |

Peroxide, Fresh & Coral RX dips might help but I find stressed coral responds badly to dips regardless.Watch the zoas @ night as well, I think you might be surprised where those safe little star fish end up. Quote:

Don't really need any coal regardless, the swap took us from 1650W between the two fixtures to 708W (@100% intensity) between 6! No more bulb replacements, daily heat swings, or high power bills ! Could not be happier with the units both visually and with how they work. |
Holy cow talk about growth batman, I added these directly after adding the radions so the only light they have recieved is the splash from my rear halide and the radions themselves:
Got these paly's on 11-03-2011 http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/7093/img4396i.jpg Not bad growth for just under 2 months in the system: http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/4061/mg5602a.jpg And who said LED's couldn't grow coral? Boxing Day Snag http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/5858/mg5609.jpg |

Sweet, you and Wes must feed you zoa's the same steroids & most of the frags should be 6 heads or better.
|
from what Im hearing the space monsters grow like a weed( I certainly hope so).......my single head CAR frag melted as well.....I have a three header now that seems to be doing ok.......
man with that frag tank lighting you should get a wee bit of growth.....but ya, you may need a small army of critters and fish to keep things in check.... so, how are you liking the 6 radions?.....do you think that is enough for your footprint now?.....Im not a student like you so I cant afford a whack of them at once:razz: but I did pick up one for the upgrade today..... |

Couldn't be happier with them at the moment, all of the corals in the tank are looking plump and healthy and SPS that was brown under my halides is finally making a color up. Foot print wise I would say 6 is perfect for my tank, I just need to come up with a better mounting rack as they sit really crooked at the moment. *Cough* GREG MASTER WELDER *Cough* I like the effect with the grow light on but it really messes with the white balance yielding some funny colors. http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/1674/mg5624.jpg http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/9089/mg5668.jpg Couple top downs: Red Planet, The Chalice. http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/3431/54715774.jpg http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/1041/mg5693.jpg Anyone elses fish follow them around the tank? Makes it hard to snap good coral shots when I have 50 fish begging for food at all times. http://img806.imageshack.us/img806/8299/mg5708.jpg http://img864.imageshack.us/img864/5894/mg5714.jpg Just for Victor, Space Monsters little sister: http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/1769/mg5636.jpg |
Sounds like you need an aluminum hanging rack for the Radions? Do you want it hangable or rest on tank? Send me a PM with tank dims, spacing between each fixture, hight above tank & spacing on tank. I will draw something up.
|
I will grab you everything tomorrow when I'm over @ the tank, Thanks Greg!
|
Exposure on that first shot is rad. Just see 2 white glows under each fixture. Looks like the UFO invasion.

Damn that looks good lol, shey sure dont look like that in my tank lol. Thanks for the pic man lol, looks like radion it is for my lighting upgrade lol. Good thing I still have a large colony of it lol

The rock structure on the right side of the tank collapsed so a "small" reaquascape was warranted..."small". 6 hours of bristleworm stings later and I think I'm finally happy with the outcome.
I would call this photo binging: UFO's!!! http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/8863/mg5840h.jpg Installed a mirror beside the tank, my HPS Retinadestroyer 5000 now has a reflector to increase retina burn while I work around the fish tank. These photo's are all early morning right as the mangrove grow light is turning on. http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/1739/mg5887h.jpg Where's Waldo? http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/9075/mg5903p.jpg http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/1042/mg5934.jpg http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/4940/mg5904o.jpg |
