I've spent two day reading this entire thread. :shocked!: WOW!!!
I started, not realizing how long it was, as I just bought a 110 and was hoping for some pointers. Not only did I get so much info and knowledge, that I hope to put to good use, I just wanted to say thanks, and I hope my tank will look half as good as yours. :thumb: Keep up the good work :) |

Great to see another person from my area here Adamsarmywife! Yeah, this thread is awesome and so is fishytime and his girlfriend fishoholic! They both have awesome tanks. |

wow you must have been bored???.....well, thank you.... Im humbled by your comments and glad you found some useful info to take from it.....hopefully it was from some of the little bit of reef related info and not the other kind of info and other general debauchery that happens in my thread:wink:.....you should start a journal for your new 110g, so that we all can perv your tank:biggrin: Quote:
picked up this new electric green favia the other day....from.......where else?, Red Coral http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5207.jpg |
I assure you I learned alot........ about reefs.......
and there is no way I could be bored, it was almost heartbreaking when your tank crashed, I'm so glad you didn't give in. |

here some pics of a couple frags....... heres a freebie "pokerstar" monti frag that Kieth(24storm) gave me(thanks again mang!)......its currently going through that "OMG! you touched me and moved me you bastard.....Im gonna pout now" phase that most montis seem to go through when you frag them..... http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5237.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5238.jpg Little Walt Smith acro frag thats starting to color up in the tips http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5239.jpg "The Clash" http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5242.jpg a crappy picture color wise but ......wee small watermelon favia frag that I snagged in E-town this w/e http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5240.jpg another w/e E-town score.......Lava Chalice.....and dont ask how much.......have you ever seen that Ikea commercial?....the one where the lady is running through the parking lot screaming "Start the car!....Start the car!".....that what I was like when I left the store:mrgreen: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5241.jpg |
Nice scores Doug! That Favia looks almost like it's been dipped in plutonium. Bet it flouresces nice. I'm really digging that pink Chalice too.

I LOVE the bubble algae! Adds a "nice" ... touch to the tank..

ya that favia is pretty sweet......one of my faves for sure......had always wanted a piece and finally found some...... well I mentioned before that I bought an I-Box nano......after some humming and hawing about it for awhile...... I came to the conclusion that I spend to many weekends away to leave a pico running unattended.......as it stands now, I can go to E-town for the w/e and pretty much leave the system without worrying about it.....I just over fill the sump with r/o make sure the r/o reservoir is full and its not that big of a deal for the fish not to eat for a day or two.....I also turn off the skimmer, just in case.....Im worried that a pico tank might not take to well to not being topped up for two or three days......................................... so............................................I decided Ima gonna plumb it in to the main system......is that cheating?......is it still considered a pico tank if it has a 150g sump?.....I brought home some 1/2" plumbing parts and starting looking at the space in the back chamber and I think I can do a herbie in this little tank......both drains and the return will be drilled through the back and the return will use the existing, although slightly enlarged hole(normally I dont much care for an enlarged hole:wink:)) for the stock return.......Im thinking I'll use a power-head of some make with around 250 gph for a return pump.....after head loss, that should be more than enough flow for a 2.5g tank.......I need some parts so I can see if I really can make this happen.....the overflow area is a tight little space,(much prefer tight little spaces, in some cases:wink:) so I may need to get my hands on a few more pieces to see if I can make it work.....stay tuned:mrgreen: |
:bounce:
lol really, but I see your point. for a second there I thought you were going to say it was a bad impulse buy |

Convexa.....still holding its intense color:biggrin: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5246.jpg have you ever taken care of something for some one and then got really attached to that something???.....Kevin might have a hard time getting this back from me:wink: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5245.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5244.jpg |
I added a melenarus wrasse a couple weeks ago.....he spent the first two days getting chased into the overflow by my angel......I thought briefly that it was a bad decision....and the poor wrasse was gonna end up on the floor, but after the initial "jump in" period he has settled in quite nicely and none of the rest of the crew even knows he exists....
more pics...... it a bird, its a plane, its "superman!" http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5247.jpg Echinata http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5250.jpg getting some decent grow out of my sunset monti http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5251.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5252.jpg I tried tweeking the camera settings a little and my red in person lava chalice still photographed pink:neutral: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5255.jpg |

ya, I was wondering about it myself......I was just going by what Kevin said, John(lobsterboy) said it was(perhaps something got lost in the translation:wink:).....I looked through the Tyree site and didnt find convexa there either.......Im not sure its setosa either though.....I have setosa and it the color is nothing even close to the color of this sps....every setosa Ive ever seen has been as orange as orange can be and this is a hot pink.........whatever it is it has killer color!
*edit after googling tyree setosa it just may be one.......pics of tyree setosa seem to range from orange to pink.... |

Well......V2 is almost clam-less.......I lost another three in the last two weeks....... somewhat of a chain reaction type thing like Tony described after an urchin had picked up my little blue guy and carried him around for an undetermined amount of time.....that clam died the day after I rescued him from his roller coaster ride and then I lost two in the next few days...... I sold one to Tai and that leaves me with one:neutral:.....Im not positive but I believe in my own mind that the hippo clam was bad luck if nothing else and had to go....all my troubles seemed to start happening shortly after I added this clam(I told Tai this before I sold him the clam)I cant say for sure whether or not the hippo had anything to do with my run of bad clam luck but......
anyway.....on to lighter topics.....some more reef porn....... http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5278.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5347.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5333.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5346.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5344.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5332.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5279.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5342.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5336.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5334.jpg |
