Almost lost Two spot Tang due to my Ato not being turned back on after a over flow alarm went off due to slight problem with set up.First problem was that the ATO line was to low and started siphoning my reservior. So I added a length of pipe with a couple of elbows and hung it on the side of the ATO reservior tank into the sump, raising exit point of the line high enough to stop siphon problem.

Next issue was courtesy of my return lines being lower than I would like in the tank and the backflow valves I ordered not being sent. This caused the tank to dump a few extra gallons into the sump during a power outage or a shutdown to feed because the anti siphon holes are an inch or two lower than I like. This raised the water level so high that my skimmer would start spewing water out of the top and my high water alarm to go off. So I started turning off both the ATO and the skimmer to feed. And of course I forgot to turn the ATO back on one time. This caused the return chamber to drain so low that the pump began spewing micro bubbles for a couple hours into the DT. My wife didn't want to wake me in the morning when she saw the tank, but wasn't sure what to do to fix ther problem. So my morning began with one P***ed off tank and a Tang having a hard time. Wasn't sure he would make it, layed on the bottom on his side for almost the whole day. But he has made a full recovery. All corals came right back as well.
As soon as my valves arrived, I popped them on the return line and raised the skimmer up on a eggcrate base. This allowed me to raise the water level in the return chamber with out having to worry about siphoning DT overflowing sump.

Next shipment courtesy of Milou. Second time I have bought coral from DJ , and as excellent as the first order. Great additions.

Hope one of 'em's gonna be a FTS

Lots of great new goodies there Mike

I don't turn my return off to feed anymore, but during maintenance I use a standby to turn off lots of stuff together
Also, I have my ATO plugged into the return outlet so it kills the hi alarm when the pump is off

Thanks Greg, It's getting full LOL
I didn't have your patience, just hoping it doesn't bite me in the ass.
I would like to thimk that if I had easy access to things that patience wouldn't be such a problem. I really lost it at Frag fest. # boxes of fish and corals, although not all for one tank. But still......

Next order came from Denny, with some assistance from Steve @ RCE.
Denny sent a awesome box full of Zoas and Palys....
Of course the box came about 14 hrs before I was leaving ona week long holiday, and a new tank sitter to top it off.
Young lady showed up and started talking tank with me, her uncle is a reefer froma ways back. Stress level dropped way down.

Got home from holiday and besides a small outbreak of algae , both tanks where running great. Just a little glass cleaning and all was great.

Holidays August 22 - 29

Unlike most holiday photos , these have nothing to do with non aquarium activities.
There is a Pet Center in Campbell River that I spend a fair bit of time in .
Stopped in during the first couple of days and looked over the fish and corals, made arrangements with Sarah and staff to put a few things away for me. On the last day I showed up with the fish box I brought with me.:twised:
Well, we filled it in short order.....

Big thank you to Sarah and Larry and the staff for helping me out. It's nice to talk reef with people in person.
Ended up with some large LPS pieces and some softies, A trembley Damsel, Yellow Watchman, Pygmy Angel. Almost left with a nice pair of platinums but the strip on the visa was too warm.

September 9th Frag Fest.... Ouch

So I got back from holidays and got everything in the tank with no casualties. Tank didn't seem the worse for wear, considering everything that had been added over the course of 9 days. But it looked fairly full.
Started glue pieces to the rocks and started seeing bare spots here and there.... hmmmmmmmmmm. Really wanted to go to Frag fest but being that I just got back from holidays and I'm kinda cheap ( cept when it comes to fish things) I was reluctant to spend money on another ticket south.
A week had passed and the tank is humming along nicely, everything is open and looking happy. Wednesday arrives and Ken starts posting pics and lists of fish and coral on Canreef, so i started sending lists.
Wife comes by the computer and starts looking at some of the pics and asks me whats happening , so I told her about the sale and she says " You should go" .,......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....I told her that I had thought about it but thought that a ticket would be to expensive on such short notice. She said " Check it out" "Okay" I says...About 600 for 2 days. Kinda put me off. In the mean time, she talks to a friend at one of the airlines and lines me up with a buddy pass discount ticket.
Then the carnage began....................

Frag fest was awesome, but I kinda lost my mind just a bit.

Ken brought in 4 Naked Clowns for me (Goldfish as far as Doug is concerned) so I grabbed them and there favorite nem.

You would not believe the looks you get when your going through an airport with a luggage cart piled up with 3 large fish boxes with LIVE FISH on the side. But once more everything survived the plane ride home. Even one of the bags that popped with the brain coral in it survived after a bit of time in the sump. Got off the plane at 9:30 PM and took me until 3:30 am until I had everything acclimatized and in all the tanks.
Added a ton of LPS. Lots of Blastos , Acans, Dendro, duncan, Bicolor angel, Flasher Wrasse, Solarus Wrasse, Yellow Coris, Pair of Bangaii, 4 Naked clowns, Yashi Goby
Can't wait till next year:twised:

Here are the last of the coral pics. Some SPS that I have tried and mostly failed at. And of course some of the critters that inhabit the tank as well.
Things have been pretty steady for the last few months since a large Ich outbreak. Lost some fish so had to restock after treating tank as best I could.
Have received some awesome orders from Milou, Spike Jones and of course, lots of goodies from Edmonton stores on my recent medical trips there. I keep thinking that the tank is full, even mentioned that to the wife. Her reply was " You mean that when we are in the city in May that we won't be going to see Ken at BWA ? YEAH RIGHT " Lol She insists that we can find room for a couple of more cool things.

Thanks Sarah, Picked up a pair of Wyomings a little while ago. Just waiting for next tank to come on line to bring them home.

Just booked annual tickets to CR for a
August, so you better have a couple of boxes ready for me to bring goodies home with LOL
