Lets see....a Tunze plastic wave box, a Tunze plastic pump, another Tunze plastic pump with a plastic controller and a Deltic plastic skimmer.....all total about 2000 with tax's. Divide that by 60 gallons and you get over 30 dollars per gallon for your plastic.

This big *** skimmer is less than 4 dollars per gallon. Sounds like a deal to me...

9800$ is ridiculous amount of money for some acrylic glued together. Do I need an Engineering degree to do that?
I had never made a skimmer , but I never made a car ether !

If the manufacturer sets up tooling to make these the costs have to be covered by the number of units sold. So if you're comparing these skimmers to mass produced automobiles you have to compare the numbers that are being produced, and divide the r&d +tooling and manufacturing setup by the number of products produced.

Not to justify the cost of the skimmer but it is worth the exact amount that someone is willing to pay for it.

If you want an example of a product where production cost is far far less than the selling price, look at computer software. How many copies of Windows has been sold. It probably costs Microsoft less than a cent per copy to have the cd printed and it sells for $100 and up http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...c.asp?CatId=26
