Well...

Here are the moon lights.....
These are LED 14 of them (4000mcd, 470 nanometer) each have a lens over them spreading light about 180 degrees.

I have mounted them on 1" aluminum tube

They are all hooked up to a Lunar Tracker witch puts them on a 29 day cycle

I'll try to get a good pic of the tank at its brightest.......

Cheers

What does the lunar tracker do, adjust moonrise and moonset times? Or does it also adjust intensity? Where did you pick it up from? Looks pretty keen.

Hi Medican ,Been following your thread and the setup looks great , lot of effort which seems to be coming together.Beautiful tank ........
I may be talking through my hat and in no way do I want to rain on your parade but I noticed in a recent posting where you showed your moonlight array (wow ! ), that you had mounted them on alumimum. I am one of the older members getting back into marines after a good many years but do recall a marine importer in the U.K. who initially used aluminum framed tanks and lost a whole room of livestock.................
Obviously the frames would easily allow contamination and your lights are not in contact with the salt water but please ensure you have no drips happening as I believe aluminun can be highly toxic.

Looking forward to more photo's and details of your progress.
.................Dave.

Thanks Dave.....

Good to know...I have sprayed them with a marine boat paint, about 5 coats, but I will watch them close just the same....

But at the same time ..... dont want to take ANY chances....
I think I will start looking at a new mounting system....

Thanks for the heads up.....

take them and get them powder coated, it will cost about 25 bucks and it is impervious to the stuff we will throw at it. (remove all the stuff then take just the rails in)

RO/DI Storage and mixing:
Here is what I use, minus the Mag 2 that sits in the middle for filling mix tank, buckets and circulating

http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...6_1301-med.JPG

Fresh on the left, you can see the float switch and it is all run by a timer so the ro/di unit will run about 1 min every hour through the night till full then the float over rides everything
http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...6_1303-med.JPG

And mixed on the right, able to mix with a Mag 2 and a heater holder near the upper output.
