I keep my tank a low tech and easy maintenance as possible, so the costs are not too bad, salt is the most expensive items, but its only $90 every 4 months or so, which isn't bad really.
I'll have to eventually sell my current tank in a couple years though, will be moving to the US to the other Vancouver in a year or 2. |
Yes!!! It will be 3 years this Dec so I’m still in the honeymoon phase:biggrin:
So much damn fun. And yes, I am a low tech, IO salt, tap water, budget reefer so it doesn’t have to break the bank. |
Barely, kind of - sort of. Can't seem to find the time or motivation.

Been doing it for 18 years now.

The tank has been running for almost 10yrs. 2-3 yrs ago it had a major crash, I still haven’t figured that one out. Anyway it’s been sitting with a skimmer and powerheads running without light ever since.
A month ago a 90% water change, rescaped, sand added, lights turned back on, sump rebuilt to add a refugium were done. 10 days ago a monti cap, a ricordia and a sacrificial acropora were added(it’s doing well, good extension and just beginning to color up). The new lights are under the Christmas Tree. After Christmas the search for frags will begin in earnest, and a few fish will be added. The kids are taking an interest in this build, that makes selling it to the wife much easier, lol. |
Im hitting 15 years and still love it like the first day .
