Grow them up? It's a big tank, lower rock scape.. seen in person, it is pretty grown up to me 😂😂. I'd say bigger then some previous TOTM.. but hey! Everybody is entitled to a opinion I guess 😉😉
Let's do a vote..
#1 grow them up
#2 TOTM READY!!

Growing as fast as I can, just keep on collecting frags so the bottom looks not grown out. 😂

Xactly, bigger tank needs bigger corals for a more mature look. More coral, less rock. The corals are beautiful, no issue there. ;)

Photo update as per usual.

Tank is stable at 7-8 dkh 400-420 calcium.

Trace of no3 and po4.

Colors are vibrant but always can be better.

Lighting change to 4 ati coral plus 4 ati blue plus, I think the corals are liking it. I did 18 inches off the water for the first week then lower it to the original spot about 6 inches above water line. I am not a patient man.

Slowed down the water flow at night so the fishes can sleep, noticed more polyp extensions and since I started feeding oyster feast at night it is even more noticeable.

Just a great looking selection of corals! How do your wrasses and firefish fare with the bare bottom tank?

Inspirational, and beautiful
Nice work Rich

tang daddy 12-14-2016 07:14 PM

I've seen this tank from rock up to present and I must
Say the growth is really starting to take off now. Keep up the good work rich and I'll be by soon with my frag cutters!

WarDog 12-14-2016 08:30 PM

All I have are fairy wrasses so no need for sand. Firefish usually hides in the rocks to sleep.

Nice stuff Rich! How do you get the blue of the clams the show up so nicely in pics? My pics are always either grey (from white balance cutting blue) or the whole pic is blue (from not using white balance). Your pics are really good. You have one of those Olympus waterproof camera too?

Rog 12-15-2016 04:50 AM

Gorgeous tank!! +1 on the camera question!

Yes, I do use the Olympus tg4 camera and it's worth its money in gold. You will need to set the white balance but after that its easy as point and shoot.
Also, I have used yellow safety google lens as a filter and surprisingly it takes great pics even with my iphone, that was a trick I learned from Davej.

Thanks!
Here is a list of my fishes,
Achilles tang.
labouti, flame, rhomboid, pylei, yellow coris, cleaner and one other fairy wrasse that I can't remember the name to.
2xsunburst, 6xlyretails anthais.
Red, purple, and helfriche firefish.
Pair of regular clowns.
Dragon face pipefish.
Royal grammer.

Ryanerickson 12-18-2016 03:40 PM

Pipe fish never seen that guy

Amadod2 12-18-2016 04:11 PM

I started redoing my 75g tank slowly about 9m ago and and still haven't added fish. Love the colors of them all. How few lyretails can a person get away with? I was thinking of 1male and 2 female? Not sure if that's a good idea though?

smokinreefer 12-18-2016 08:06 PM

Hey Rich, how are the firefish?

I've actually never kept one, but read they pick one another off...
Do you have multiples of the same species? Or just one of each?
Do they leave each other alone?

They look so cool in the stores seeing a bunch of them hovering around.
Have always wanted a few of them.

Lyretails for me is the only anthais that does pick off each other as long as food is abundant. I had 6 for the longest time but then decided to add a few more but 6 seems to be the magic number for me.

Let's just say I started off with 3 reds 3 purples and 2 helfriche....my helfriche is by far the more aggressive one but I rather that than vice versa.

Bblinks 12-20-2016 11:41 PM

Few coral and fish pics

https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5743/3...7a1d56d3_b.jpg

Something about the true undata .... just have to be in the collection.

https://c5.staticflickr.com/1/623/30...65ca2edc_b.jpg

Another must have piece is the Oregon tort. Truly timeless piece.

https://c4.staticflickr.com/1/62/314...d1fb3092_b.jpg

https://c7.staticflickr.com/1/302/30...2de99048_b.jpg

Fathead anthias. Although I really do miss my borbonius pair but these will do for replacement that doesn't break the bank.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/324/31...7067bbfd_b.jpg

Helifriche firefish.

https://c2.staticflickr.com/1/163/30...c2a1afda_b.jpg

My personal favorite, Rhomboid wrasse. First time I ever bought this fish was at JL and the poor girl there sold me the fish by mistake for $40. After Jeff called me I reluctantly brought it back cause I didn't want to get any one in shit. After some research I finally purchased this gorgeous fish some time after. By far, this is one of the top pick wrasses to acquire.

https://c6.staticflickr.com/1/508/30...4b477c8a_b.jpg

https://c6.staticflickr.com/1/740/30...7ed4aa5e_b.jpg

Another must have wrasse, flame.

https://c8.staticflickr.com/1/630/30...2a315121_b.jpg

https://c3.staticflickr.com/6/5805/3...f7b76619_b.jpg

One more must have....I know I know....I have issues with wrasses.

I am still on the hunt for a fiji or aussie scotts wrasse.

tang daddy 12-21-2016 03:29 PM

Awesome pics rich, love those fish pics. Where's the Royal Grammer?

If the price of helfrici wasn't so much these days I would love one, also the exquisite fire fish with yellow bellies are pretty neat and they dwarf the regular ones.

H2o2 12-21-2016 05:10 PM

The thing I like best is it is out there and doable ,beautiful colour healthy fish, well done Rich

DKoKoMan 12-21-2016 05:32 PM

The colours of your fish and corals make for a stunning display.

hunggi74 12-22-2016 10:28 AM

That's not a wrasse in those last pics. That's a very colourful tuna fish. Lol
