You hit the nail on the head. He does give off a snobby feeling when you first meet him. It gets better with more interaction you have with him. Jeff is a very knowledgeable person when it comes to this hobby, he has been in the hobby for quite some time now and I usually direct all my question his way. Although some of the question are elementry, he still trys to explain to me the best he can, it's only when you start to ask the same elementry question over and over again he starts to get annoyed, but for the most part I just google before I start asking.

Reefie 01-22-2012 10:59 PM

This explains where I got all my bristle worms from.
The biggest one I've pulled out so far was 1" wide, an absolutely ugly MFer.

Thank you so much for giving me WORMS! Haha!

I can't wait until you get this tank flourishing like your old 210. And just remember that you can always fit the wife INSIDE the tank the next time there's a disagreement.

Just a small update

I have been busy for the last week or so, didn't get much done. I have also been fighting off a new tank syndrome hair algae outbreak since I nuked all my rocks by fresh water dipping everything for 4 minutes to kill all the pests.

I am almost finished my skin for the tank, all it left is fill and sand then off to a good friend of mine's shop to get it paint it.

I finally did some testing last night alk is at 6.5, cal is at 500, and mag is around 1100. No wonder the hair algae is growing out of control, I bumped my alk up a couple of points and plan to do a water change later.

Here are a couple of recent photos.

Tank is looking good, must say I love the rock placement as it looks nearly identical to the way I did mine.

Thanks for the compliment. The rock work took me a fair amount of time to get it right. I think thats the single most time consuming part of setting up a tank. I have done my fair share of fruit stand look so this time I wanted some thing different. I am even considering take out a few more pieces of rock just to make it look cleaner...

Ps love to see what your tank look like.

Tank is looking awesome Rich! Can't wait to see it again next time I'm out that way!

Mrfish55 01-23-2012 11:31 PM

I will have to get some current shots and update my thread, no real huge changes to the tank itself but I did just complete a sump and equipment overhaul, if you check my profile it will direct you to my build thread.

Anything new??

Reefie 02-05-2012 12:33 AM

I'm surprised that even though you've picked up a few frags recently that there aren't any updates........tsk tsk!

Get off your lazy @ss and post some updates ASAP!!!

Bblinks 02-08-2012 10:49 PM

All right guys, just a little update while I am bored at work. shhhh don;t tell anyone Ken.:twised:

I have been running the system for a bit more then a month now, every thing is looking great. Lots of the sps are coloring back up again. I had a major alk dip just recently, it went from 9 - 5.5 in a little less than a week, I had to bump it up with soda ash from BRS, I guess its always good when the corals are using it up.

I also dumped my CPR refugium so to eliminate any chance of the thing getting stuck and flooding my floor again. Never again.

I did get a new toy last week.

http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...s/5b25ab28.jpg
Here it is running.
http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/...s/24d3c80d.jpg
The Kalk stirrer is from Avast marine. I think its a replicate of deltec km500s, compare prices I would definitely get this over the deltec. I also bought an extra motor for 50 bucks just incase this one poops out.

Bblinks 02-08-2012 10:57 PM

Tank running for a bit more than a month

Here are some more pictures, sorry for the low quality pictures, I rather buy equipment and live stock then a camera.

Tank is looking awesome like your old one did

Reefie 02-09-2012 01:26 AM

Took you long enough to post updates!!!

Now I don't have to go over to your house to look for updates anymore. Haha!

About time you moved the Blonde Naso OUT of the BioCube! Haha!

Like I've said before............you have a little too much GREEN on the left side of the tank. :twised:

If you move some of those bad boys over to the right side, you'll have more balance of colours throughout the whole tank.

BTW, the tank looks like cr@p! I expected more from you.........

Haha Just kidding bud!

It looks awesome! I can't wait until you glue down some of the new pieces you've picked up recently.

apexifd 02-09-2012 03:43 AM

I expect more tang from the 300DD.

1 purple
1 chevron
1 black
1 powder brown
1 sail fin
1 regal

Chowder 02-09-2012 05:09 AM

Tank looks great Rich.

DD stands for deep dimension, it's a factory marine land tank and they called it deep dimension due to the 36 inch depth. I am not sure what you mean by special but my wife did gave me the okay to upgrade. I thought that was pretty special.😃

Small update.

Just a small update on newly accquired live stock.

Achilles tang
Blonde naso tang(grew up in my biocube, I got a purple tang going in there next) bring it on Tang police:twised:
Yellow flanked wrasse
Orange back fairy wrasse
Solon wrasse
MacCosker flasher wrasse
Line spot flasher wrasse
Pair of marjorie's wrasse (pretty rare deep water wrasse)

I have been going on this wrasse binge for some unknown reason but I love it. Next on the hit list for wrasses are labout, hooded fairy, scott's fairy, and a lineatus wrasse.

Tank has been up and running for almost 2 month, all the sps are getting there colors to come back up. In the last few month through my tank upgrade I have meet up with a few awesome reefers in town. Apexfd, Chowder, Reefie, and Tang daddy. I like to Thank all you for letting me come over to your houses and drool over your tanks, Thanks for all the great frags and good times! It's amazing to find people who share your hobby and in many cases our passion.

Anyways what a update without pictures. sorry for the low quality pics but my buddy is coming over with his camera that cost more then my left leg and hopefully we will get some nice picts taken.

Reefie 02-24-2012 07:31 PM

Funny that you'll spend thousands on equipment and hundreds on fish, but $50 for a coral is out of the question! Haha you cheap @ss! Maybe you'll qualify for TWMEE (Tank With the Most Expensive Equipment) and TWMEF (Tank With the Most Expensive Fish), and even maybe TWCC (Tank With the Cheapest Coral)? Hahaha! :twised:

BTW, the Tang Police called me about knowing anything about a Canreefer keeping a Blonde Naso in a BioCube. I told them that I didn't know YOU, and the pics I sent them of your BioCube, I had no idea how they got onto my phone........Maybe someone photoshop'd the Naso?

Blue milli from millipora maniac. trying to make a comeback.

I got some hair algae on the rocks, got a seahare a while back and it was doing a good job until I got home last night at 11:30 from visiting my good buddy. Just as I was putting the sps I had purchased from JL into a small container to dip, my wife looked at me and said I think the seahare is stuck on the tunze. I immediately grab a stick and poke it, long story short, it was stuck and yes it was dead. I had to fish the tunze out and separate the pump, It took every ounce of strength not to puke. It was stuck in a such a weird position, I had to cut the seahare in half just to get it out. GROSS!
