having said that I am concidering getting one to run and try out myself so I can see how fast/slow they fall off. venkiw, when do you think your 14K bulbs will be ready for people to buy? this is the color that would interest me the most as it would be closer to the color of a AB and I would love to try them out. The 14K and 20K and DE bulbs are slated for release this Christmas!!!.
The 250 Watts E-Ballast are sold out, I have a few 400 watts left. Its been 3 months since the launch of the products, the bulbs are holdong pretty good. Buyers are reporting coral growth that they never experience before. |
I'm looking at a 2 x 250W DE system. What sort of prices are you going to have bulbs and ballasts for?
|
250 watts bulb and ballast combo would be around 165 - 170 CAD.

Do you have a website? It would be nice and much easier to research everything from one place. You can also add your website to your profile so we can easily find it. Thanks. |
The DE combo is slightly higher (5$ more) in view of the cost of the bulb, the ballast will fire both SE and DE bulbs.
My Website is a www.sunaquatics.com, but it is still work in progress. Venki |
I assume that the FC2 (or whatever they're called) sockets and the fixture isn't included in that price. Do you sell them separately or are we on our own to supply those? DE's need some kind of UV shield.
|
The sockets are not included, yes the DEs need a protective lens.
|
Do you sell the sockets or not? If so, what is the price? What do you recommend for a UV sheild, is a panel of "clear float" glass in 4.5mm or 6mm going to adequate? This is going to be rather tiresome if I have to ask everything twice...
|
No we do not sell the sockets.
Here is a link to a supplier. Damn thing costs more than 1/2 price of the bulb  http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...y_Code=Sockets I am not an expert with glass, but glass with minimum of 4.5mm thickness is required if the glass in uncoated for UV protection. |
Thanks for the info!
|
Tony;
I noticed my DE reflector from Sunlight Supply has low-e (tempered glass??) glass. I'll check again tomorrow and measure the thickness for you. Kari |
Checked with industry experts. If it is a quartz glass 4.5 mm is required. If it is machine made glass then lesser thickness (2mm) is fine.

So whats the verdict on the bulbs everyone still happy? Venkiw, do you still have bulbs available? If so I'll probably order two 250s in the new year.

If so I'll be jumping on Doug's order for a couple 250W bulbs and a couple 250W eballasts. |
I ordered 3 250 10000k bulbs and have been using one Al brought over for me and I have to say I like the color of them, especially when you add an actinic.Where else are you going to find 10k bulbs for that price?I think if Venki can offer all of us these kind of prices then we should take advantange of this.I for one will be ordering more more from him, especially the E ballasts.
2 thumbs up! Jim |
venki got any 250 14000k bulbs?
|

Jim |
