Looks good. light seems to be doing alright seems you have pretty good polyp ext. on the sps

superduperwesman 11-24-2008 03:16 PM

Interesting sand... think you better change your tank name to "The Two Faced Tank"

sphelps 11-24-2008 03:26 PM

Looks good! But it'll be hard to keep that glass clean with the rocks right up against it.

True... I concur

dabandit 11-24-2008 04:43 PM

She's a beauty, love how the dolphin hinges. What do you think about the light,is it a keeper?

scholar 11-24-2008 08:52 PM

were there is a will there is a way. the light is awsome very little heat etc but i am going through 2 1/2 cups of water a day

Dang that's enough... I think I get about 1 to 1.5 a day but that's on 15 gallons (10 gallon tank with approx 5 gallons of sump volume) How much does it swing your salinity? Do you have an auto top off?

ElGuappo 11-24-2008 10:15 PM

is there a cover on the tank? just wondering as that seems like quit a bit of evap.

scholar 11-24-2008 10:21 PM

no the tank doesnt have a cover and i keep the tank toped up all the time when i walk by i think it may have been so hi due to me keeping the house at 75 for the weekend i dont know...

superduperwesman 11-24-2008 10:34 PM

Have you tried covering it? If so does your temp go up??

Ryan_Lap 11-24-2008 10:51 PM

If he is keeping it topped up consistently as to not fluctuate the salinity than he probably doesnt need a cover.

scholar 11-24-2008 11:26 PM

my temp is not a problem at all but it does seem like a lot of water but im keeping ontop of it i do plan doing a DYI auto top off drip system.

scholar 11-26-2008 08:40 AM

thought i would post a pic of a new sps and to show the polyp extension :)
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/r...3/IMG_0380.jpg

scholar 11-30-2008 05:17 PM

Well have been monitering my temps and now that I have raised the water level in the rear of the tank i hae stabled out at 82.1 lights off to 83.4 with lights on for 10ish hours give or take. I still dont trust the light 100% so i make sure im home when i turn it on dont want there to be any fires... (99.9% that nothing can or will happen but just not that full level of trust)

scholar 12-15-2008 04:46 PM

Well i had some troubles with my piower supply for the past week and a half so the last three days have been the first with light in awhile the sps has gone brown and didnt open for the first day with the lighting back on but it seems to be opening fine now.. it will just be a test to see if I can color it back up.. well here are the updadted pics. The tank has now fully cycled and the pods are looking after the cleaning for me since I have only done it once to date :)!!

what if something dies or is removed when still alive is it duducted from the budget or you eat it???

dabandit 12-15-2008 06:37 PM

Aside from powersupply issues,is the light still working out? Any burning or browning while it was on steady? Your one of only 2 people I've found who had the guts to try,the future of this light is in your hands lol

scholar 01-16-2009 01:13 PM

If the tank is still going and you're still taking pics why not just post the pics and stay in the contest?? All you have to do is post a picture once a month.

I'm a little sick of people taking the easy way out, you made a commitment so stick with it. I've also thought about dropping out but I'm going to see it through to the bitter end no matter what. We all fought to keep you in this contest, don't let us down.

scholar 01-16-2009 03:58 PM

ill also post the pics of my house getting robbed this week sorry but im backing out

Yeah sorry to hear that but if you have time to post words how come you can't post a picture you you already taken? **** happens, that's life. Some jackass breaks into your place and you're going to let them ruin everything else? Maybe you should quit your job to. You have my sympathy for being robbed but not dropping out of the contest, like you said you're continuing with the tank anyway and it's looking good and you have pictures. I just don't see the problem.

scholar 01-25-2009 12:43 AM

Here are some updated pics for every one. Please be advized that the lights just came on not an hour before the pic's are taken.

FTS to see the acans??? They look fantastic!

JDigital 01-25-2009 12:53 AM

Looks like that HID is sustaining your corals.... Any algae outbreaks?

Everything looks good.

christyf5 01-25-2009 12:55 AM

Wow those acans are stunning

Sorry to hear about your house. I still think you should just post pics when the time is right for you. Especially if you've still been taking them and all

scholar 01-25-2009 12:56 AM

I have the smallest and I mean smallest cycle ever and nothing out of the normal for setting up a new tank. But I have to introduce new coral VERY slow the the high light
