^^^ That came to a quick stop after finding a few leaks in my Closed loop.

1 @ 2" Bulkhead (Drained the tank, dried, seal with silicone)
1 @ 1" CL Return
1 @ CL pump intake
1 @ CL pump output

The last two weren't exactly as easy to fix... but probably a blessing that they did leak, as it provided me the chance to add in 2 ball valves before the union couplers, so I can prevent my tank from emptying when it comes time to service the pump.. DUH,:bad-word: can't believe I forgot those. :silly:

Just need to let the newly cemented joints cure, and I can take a run at round 2 of filling the tank.

Got my canopy framed this weekend, still need to get it skinned though.. and test fitting my MH's today...

All in all, I'm pretty happy with it... need to order my T5 retrofit soon.

Thanks man!

The rock was mostly if not all from Red Coral.. it's a mix of Fiji and Tonga.

Nice work JD, I really love the layout in the rocks. Can't wait for more pics when the livestock arrives. Regards Ken

Not much of an update, but now that my sand has settled after adding it, and raising up my CL intake, I fired up the CL again, and just wanted to show the surface agitation... I think I should be good for Oxygenation. I'll try and get another vid when the lights are on... I've only got them running 2hrs/day right now..

Haven't really been bothered to test it, to be honest. I'm working on running this cycle based on a method by Eric Bourneman (thread is HERE on RC if anyone wants to read about what I'm doing) Might add some snails/crabs in about a month from now. Then the system will sit again for prolly 2 months before the first coral goes in, when that time comes, I will start adding some good photosynthetic corals. The tank won't see any fish for minimum 6 months.

I became really intrigued with this write up by Eric, so much soo, that I want to see what happens with the absence of predators in the tank.

JDigital 11-19-2008 02:51 PM

I know its awhile before I start stocking the tank, but I think I have put together my stocking list, but would like some advise on some possible changes. (especially regarding the tangs)

Stocking list in order of addition (First to Last)

- Red Lip Blenny
- 6 Line Wrasse
- Gold Stripe Maroon Clown
- Flame Angel
- Kole Yellow Eye Tang (my maybe tang)
- Yellow Tang
- White Cheek Powder Brown Tang

Chaloupa 11-19-2008 03:32 PM

Personally, I would not add that many tangs. 3 in a tank that size is too many. I would stick with one as there will be too much aggression. I have 3 in my 150g and there is a ton of aggression.

Very interesting article. Something to think about for sure, I'm just not sure I have the patience that would take.

- 6 Line Wrasse ( good for worms and bugs)
- Gold Stripe Maroon Clown ( aggressive but interesting)
- Flame Angel ( pretty but could munch on corals)
- Kole Yellow Eye Tang (my maybe tang) ( I think one will get too big for your tank)
- Yellow Tang (again same as kole and get aggressive when larger)
- White Cheek Powder Brown Tang

( a good choice for your size of tank)

a chevron tang might be nice as they stay smaller but would have to be put in before the PBT.

So, I never planned on having anything but a small clean up crew in the tank for atleast another 1-1.5 months, but with my 10G contest tank breaking on me this morning, I had to save some stuff out of the tank.

So I swapped over the GSP tower and positioned it next to the left locline with the plan of it overgrowing it and hiding it, Also pulled the Fragspawn out as well as a small patch of zoa's (next to the right locline).. and then I had to move the Pom Pom crab and the Black Hawaiian Percula (as he would get sh*t kicked in my 20G by the Angel).. The rest of the corals from the 10 on in my 20 on the frag rack, while I decide what to do with them.

Anyways, quick FTS and a shot of my Pompom crab.

Nor did I, but they came in on a Hawaiian shipment to Red Coral 2 weeks ago I think... I'm not really too bothered if its not hawaiian, its a nice freakin' clown.

fishytime 12-17-2008 03:08 AM

Be forewarned. My clown was about the same size as yours and he spent the first few weeks getting caught in the overflow every night. It took a while but he finally learned not to get sucked into the overflow at night. Hope yours is smarter than mine was.

karazy 12-17-2008 03:42 AM

im kinda confused, because i thought there was no clownfish in hawaii because their larval stage doesnt last long enough for them to drift to the islands. but i could be wrong

You just HAD to say that.... Figured I would go take another look at the tank, for no reason... and I notice the clown missing... Hmmm, Where did he go??? Looked all over the tank, the floor, the overflow.... No where to be found. That's because he went for a ride... All the way to the sump and into my dirty filter sock.. Poor lil guy..

So needless to say the make-shift drain cover didn't work to well... So I have draped my fish net over it for the night so atleast if his dumbass gets sucked into the overflow, that's where he will be in the morning..
