No damage so far on bulbs shipped within Canada, we have had a case of broken bulb reported from the US so far ( and we found out that Canada Post will not cover it), hence we are not offering insurance anymore.
The package was literally put at the bottom of all items and totally flatenned out by Canada Post even though marked as Fragile. But their liability does not include glass - some smart people out there. |
Does FedEx or UPS not offer insurance ? ... I ordered bulbs from the US once and got one replaced by UPS due to damage ... unless it has changed as that was a little while ago ?

If it was declared as a bulb in the Customs Declaration form, there is no way they would have refunded.
Furthermore, more and more people are moving away from insured shipping for fragile items on ebay. |
Fedex broke one of my Ushio's on the way up from Washington DC and wouldn't cover it.
How long will these prices remain in effect? I don't need bulbs for another two months or so. |
not that long for sure ..
But you'll find them in your LFS by then. |
So are you saying that FedEx and UPS do not insure the packages ? ... I did a quick check on the UPS website and they say they automatically cover up to $100.00CDN/ pkg but will phone them in the morning to be sure that it extends to bulbs.

Steve I bet you one of those 400w bulbs that it doesn't.

Even Canada Post had automatic coverage of 100$, it is stated however that the liability does not include fragile and perishable goods.
If UPS or Fedex accepts (for ground service) to insure glass items please get that in writing from them and fax it over to me. I'll send you a free bulb. Cheers Venki Worathur |
I just received 3 of the 400 watt bulbs yesterday. Everything came intact. Arrived 3 days after order placed. Haven't fired them up yet on the HQI ballasts. Will report back.
