I won't even tell what either of my cutting horses cost and besides the original output of cash for the nag then you have to feed it, tack it, vet it and in the case of one of my mares board it (she is a bit of a Paris Hilton - cute as a button but no life skills to make it at my place with no heated barn). Then there is entry fees - gas to travel to competitions...............oyah - I'm getting a headache just thinking about it. It's all a matter of what you decide your extra $ are worth to you as an individual. Me - I could live in my horse trailer as long and forego the nice house etc. etc. etc.

For some things of course one can accept a higher than cost than what the materials only are worth, but the item at the start of this is essentially some plastic glued together and a pump.

you've never built a skimmer, right? I'd guess most of the cost in these skimmers is to recoup the costs of the machinery to get those pieces of plastic into gluing condition...

but if someone just wants some plastic glued together (sure I have some around somewhere) and a pump, I can do that for the low cost of $4000. Less than half!!

:)

I'll wait for the bubble king rip offs that should be coming out within the next year or so

Brand new Honda Civic is about two times that much.
9800$ is ridiculous amount of money for some acrylic glued together. Do I need an Engineering degree to do that?
I had never made a skimmer , but I never made a car ether !

Duuuuude, you own a Tunze Wavebox....while we're on the subject of acrylic, glued together ;)
