there's a coral? phew!
|
Tank's mostly been on auto-pilot lately but I have added some new frags. I wasn't able to get clear shots of the new stuff from John but I'm happy to report it all is alive and has pretty much all the color it arrived with.
I've been part of some epic battles against my hair algae rock and my bryopsis rock. I've managed to really thin the hair algae out but that bryopsis comes back thicker than before just days after a week-long pruning assault. I've read that unless you yank it entirely out at the root you're wasting your time. I'm still wasting my time not sure what else to do. Usual shot from my fav peephole: Early December for fun: http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/250s1.jpg Now: http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana1.jpg This gorg is really happy. Easily tripled in size since I got it and I just love it. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana2.jpg This acan has colored up pretty nicely. I've moved one acan colony into my rockwork and most of my others will follow. Really like how they look at a bit of an angle to the glass. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana3.jpg This favia is beginning to claim the rock it's sitting on. All part of my plan to have a ginormous colony of this stuff. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana4.jpg This teal sps is doing really well. It's new branch is longer than the parent... and it's sending out 4 or 5 new ones. You can see a few here which I'm stoked about. I guess I caught a bit of my superman digi in the bottom left. I have 3 seperate pieces now on the rock. Everytime I work in the tank and break something it's this coral! All 3 pieces are getting a lot of the blue in the body finally. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana5.jpg New acan from Coralmaster has some sweet colours in it. Not the greatest shot but I have it in the shade some as I acclimate it. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana6.jpg A. Plana from Coralmaster. Going to be one of my favorites. Love the fat polyps and subtle colouring. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana7.jpg A. aculeus from Coralmaster. Tough to see the cool colours it has in my shot which I guess is washed out or something but I'm excited to see this one grow too. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana8.jpg And finally an ugly shot of this new algae I've been blessed with. It grows well at night and when the halides are off. It slowly dwindles away with the halides on but some always manages to stick around. Can someone please id? http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana9.jpg |
Weird, looks like cyano but behaves the exact opposite it should be wrt light.. NO idea.
Everything looks great, filling in pretty good. |
Looking good Brett! You have some nice pieces there, and that Gorg is Bitchin'
Is that new algae a dark brownish colour and sort of like Cyano but more strandy. ........(strandish?) If so, I had a little of that and nuked it with sodium hydroxide and it never came back. |
Nice pics Brett. That gorg looks happy :)

I really like that gorg too mang......was that the algae-less angle you were talking about?.....looks like some decent growth there too....and the product your looking for is called enzyte.....the once a day pill for natural enhancement:mrgreen:

Lol I'll just stick to wheaties Doug!
Yeah that's the 'cleanest' angle. You can still see my bryopsis farm on the right hand side under the green/orange formosa. If I can figure out how to shoot a decent video with our p&s camera I'll show all the nasty bits too. |
I don't know how you guys do it but I can't keep SPS living in my tank. Really think I am missing something but therecis really no one around this area to come out and take a look see and give me some ideas.
Tank looks sweet Brett, nice job dude. P.S. Still want that pump  |
I love your gorg! I so want one but my evil flame angel would pick at it.
The tank is lookin good  |
