mmmmm.... I love maple bacon

muck 11-19-2010 07:42 PM

Bacon... gimme gimme. :twised:

Rbacchiega 11-19-2010 07:49 PM

crisis avoided. It was not maple bacon. was delish. I wish I could have had more, but am on a sorta strict "cant have a whole crap load of unhealthy food" regime at the moment. Went to the cardiologist today and am scheduled in for 2 weeks from now. Unawesome.

Rbacchiega 11-19-2010 10:02 PM

I just found a letter I wrote to Santa in 1993...I wanted a "real electric guitar" or an "ez 2 do fashion machine"....which is apparently a bedazzler for children....I was awesome.

Delphinus 11-20-2010 05:36 PM

I think I'll never figure out how people score such awesome deals on airline seat sales. Westjet has this "super awesomer seat sale" on right now for travel from now until Feb 17 and I tried plugging in various dates for a few destinations but never once found the advertised rate for that destination from basically today all the way up to Feb 17. For example, they said $260 to Kona so I looked for that price anywhere but the cheapest I found was $350 (which maybe isn't too bad for Kona, I dunno, but still, that's not $260) but the average price for different weeks more like $450 to $500 and in some weeks it was all the way up to almost $800. I'm sure there is some explanation to it all like there was only a couple fares available at that price and they're all sold now but still then don't still advertise that as the price and wait for people to pin down dates to tell them "BTW it's going to REALLY cost you $XXX more than what you thought." Never mind taxes and all that I know that's always extra anyhow. I can't help but feel like it's a little bit deceptive advertising.

Rbacchiega 11-20-2010 05:58 PM

Westjet doesn't even fly to Newark Oct 30th through May1st...which sucks for me....and I've got 3 friends/family members who work for Westjet, so can't even use them for deals when I need hahaha

mark 11-20-2010 07:18 PM

I can't understand why it costs so much to fly in Canada anytime.

Got some tickets for domestic flights in the Philippines, for about similar distances as Vancouver to Edmonton and Edmonton to Kelowna, I'm paying $88 and $47 respectively. That's total for one ways, ticket, taxes airports fees etc, aircraft types are 737 and A320s. Realize wages are lower, but airframe and fuel costs would be similar and safety records as good as here.

Rbacchiega 11-20-2010 08:04 PM

yeah but when I was in the PI I bought 25 packs of Winston Reds (two cartons and 5 separate packs) and a 26 of Whiskey for $10 American....no jokes hahahaha

and the hotel for a week cost 16 dollars a night.

whatcaneyedo 11-21-2010 01:07 AM

When Dexter kills someone he cuts them up, packs their body parts in bags and drops those in the ocean. I get that. But WTF does he do with the massive amount of plastic that he covers each kill room with? Does he have an incinerator somewhere?

It is the same as when you are signal no woman is interested in you, but soon as you are taken they are all interest at once. ladies and gents figure that one out.

How the hell do you determine what's meant to be eaten in a piece of KFC? It's certainly ALL chewable, chicken flavored and greasy as !@#$. It's like playing a game of minesweeper. Common sense will get you most of the way but every now and then you are forced to take a leap of faith.

muck 11-22-2010 07:47 PM

I can't stomach KFC anymore... not since they gave me a bucket of "expert mode". :puke:

WTF is with Calgary traffic this week and last...

Been driving deerfoot daily for 10 years, and this has to be the slowest week yet.
It's only snow people!
You can go more than 10 kph

dare me to comment on this...

The nice version: Some people don't belong here. When people react after telling them I was born and raised here I give them the evil eye.

Yeah I agree!!
I've lived in Calgary my whole life and cant stand 3/4 the people here!
I still think of calgary as 500-600 thousand people, not the 1.1million plus.

I havent seen the daily commute as bad as it has been this last week.
My drive times for the past week are as follows:

Monday____0:40 (no snow and typical dry road drive time)
Tuesday____2:01 (snow storm the night before)
Wednesday__1:32 (minimal new snow)
Thursday____1:17
Friday_______1:10

Monday______1:22

And the drive home is much longer!
GRRRRRR!!!!

sphelps 11-22-2010 10:50 PM

What part of the city do you work in Ross?

muck 11-22-2010 11:07 PM

Sounds like you need a flat downtown during the week Ross.

Ok, I will bite. How do they not belong? Never knew residence was a birth right.

What if I moved there now? I lived there before you were even born but would I be one of "those people".

If you don't know how to drive correctly in winter weather then yes Doug you would be one of those people .

Laurier you and I probably have the same break down and hate the world moment driving from Mount Royal Gate trying to get onto Crowchild southbound. You wait in the turn lane for 25 mins (Especially in the wintertime) and then some ass clown drives past the 200 cars waiting in the line only to try and force him/herself in last second.

I don't even have words for how much I hate Calgary winter driving, first snow fall and 75% of the city forgets how to drive...

Oh I dont know. Perhaps 31 yrs. in Thompson, including many trips/winter out to places like Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg could have given me a few qualifications.

I,m one of those that gets upset at the pokes attempting to drive in winter.

EITHER GET OFF THE ROAD IF YER SCARED OR BUY PROPER TIRES FOR WINTER

:heh:

I second that, my wife has "true" winter tires and the difference is unbeliveable. I was a skeptic until I drove her car.... and ya putzing down the road at 60k in a 100k zone is brutal.....stay home. Winter tires are mandatory in Quebec and should be the same here....

How do you have time for anything else besides driving and sleeping and working. My commute is 9 mins in the summer and 15mins if its bad weather. Lots of dumb drivers too but there all driving faster then the roads permit and usually see at least one or two hit the ditch on the way to work when it snows. Just about got blind sided last week from a guy that ran a red.

I just wrote a massive rant and its not worth posting. I am just sick of fighting for a job, trying to get into my program at school (they only allow 30 people per a semester) and the horriable driving in the past 2 years, which includes almost being killed on my bike numberous times.

I really dislike what the "Boom" has done to this city

Levi, your going to hate me. I live in marda loop and just have to drive across one of the bridges to get to my place. Its maybe a 10min drive in bad conditions. But I hated driving from the NW. Heading North across the bow is a nightmare. As for Glenmore, it shouldn't back up like that. People need to learn how to properly mirge

I live in Airdrie and comute to Glenmore and 52nd SE

Normally winter comuting isnt that bad, add 10 minutes or so and your fine, but last week was painful.

As for zum14, it's simple, sleep deprivation...

I just wish that the ring road went to glenmore and not stop at 17th ave. If you want to get all the rig traffic off the road, should the road not go to where the rigs are?

I know what would help... another 25million foot bridge with another two 100m away...

Like tossing a Bubble King on a 10 Walmart aquarium.
looks good, but truely could be done alot cheaper and spend money where its truely needed...

Delphinus 11-23-2010 03:59 AM

Lived here my whole life (let's call it 4 decades, it's only a few months shy of the mark). I'm not sure what percentage that puts me in but it's not huge. The irony is that probably more people in town were happy with yesterday's football game than not. (I couldn't care less BTW but that's another story).

Anyhow. It's been taking me anywhere from 60 to 120 minutes to get to work this last week. My commute is a whopping 8km long.

So .. yeah. I have words to share about this but they're not fit to print.

It snows here. WHO KNEW IT COULD SNOW IN CANADA LET ALONE ALBERTA. Wowee what a news flash. Adjust your maximum speed, leave room ahead of you for braking and slow down on corners. It's not rocket science. Someone posted a rant the other day about people who drive too fast for the sake of 12 minutes and I thought .. well, I sympathize. I really do. You shouldn't have to feel like you're risking your life because of jerks who drive too aggressively when the conditions are suboptimal. I get that fully. But 12 minutes?! 12 minutes when it snows? Holy crap! How nice it would be if snow meant only *12* minutes more to my commute!

Seem to be two kinds of drivers: those are too aggressive, and those that are too fearful. Neither should be on the roads.

That reminds me, I'm missing Canada's Worst Driver right now...

The Grizz 11-23-2010 04:16 AM

I am in the country and walk 40 feet to work  but I have been on the hiway heading to calgary on some of the worst days during the winter. Have been almost taken out by almost everything from a smart car to a semi.

I am so glad I don't live in any of the big cities because of the commute's and really feel for all of you and absolutely agree with all of the opinions about the crappy driver's. With my profession there can be a ton of travel and have seen way to many people that should have never been given a license to drive.

I loathe it when people put things on my chair. To get back at someone who just wouldn't get the hint I started sitting on an exercise ball. Said person then opted for erasing my white board, and taping the paper to it, so damaging the paper and destroying important notes in the process. Go genius level co-workers!

I love my snow tires, I've had them put on my car now three years running, and they were so worth the investment. They make a world of difference on a car with no power steering!

I really want a nice meal with some serious garlic and ginger in it, but it'd be such a bad choice professionally. Why must garlic and ginger be so delicious and savory?!

Rbacchiega 11-24-2010 06:30 PM

debating just not comig back from the next trip to the states.

Madreefer 11-24-2010 08:05 PM

Rich Coleman with a smug look on his big fat face on Global news all proud of himself 'cause he seized 2 cars worth 200k and auctioning them off. Give higher traffic fines or jail time if they want to street race. B.C. may be beautiful but sure starting to feel like a communist province.
