Ya that is an amazing photo. I've never seen my Butterfly move that fast. Must be because of the Black spot. It's the turbo charger :)

Yeah, he loves ripping around the tank. We haven't been able to think of a good name for him. Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear about the angel. :(

How long have you been on zeovit now?

You know what's weird, I'm now on zeovit for a little over a month, about 7 weeks in now. So basically still a total newb startup, right? But I was sort of expecting to have seen a reduction in nuisance algaes by now? It hasn't happened. By nuisance algaes I mean specifically the green film I get on my glass and red cyano. In fact, I didn't have cyano before starting zeo, and now I have it fairly bad. :( I don't get it. Anyhow sorry for the hijack I'm not meaning to ask about why this is happening but I'm just curious if in particular you've noticed a difference in how often you have to clean your glass? If so, how long did it take, in your estimation, before you noticed a difference in the film/slime buildup rates?

Tony - to continue the Hijack (Sorry Joe) :p

I am facing the same issue, I have had massive Cyano the past few days I posted on zeovit.com for dosing advice and have made the changes.

Hijack away! Its my thread I can do whatever I want with it.

I am a week away from my second rock change. So far I can't say I've noticed a reduction in my algaes either, the growth however is way less which has got to be good. I also have a little cyano on the bottom. What did the zeo guys suggest to you(Greg)? I guess I could just siphon it out, but if there is a way to make it disappear.

The glass stays real clean for about 5 days doesnt need cleaning for about 10. Tony, I think the brown slime means your dosing to much zeostart and food. Try a little less when you dose them.

Oh and I wanted to add: The more I research and learn about Zeo. It seems every tank needs a diffrent dosing regime in the end. The zeo guide is really just a guide to get started.

Jason McK 04-24-2008 11:11 PM

Tony. I PMed you regarding your dosing. Didn't want to drag this thread into a Zeo dosing thread ;)

I was basically advised to lower my dosing, primarily zeo start for a week. I'm three days in since the switch and I have noticed a reduction.

In the first 4-6 weeks of zeo my green film algae was almost non-existant, but in the following 3 weeks it has been back a bit.. nothing near what it was before I strarted zeo though.

I totally agree with you though, the guide is just that, I think every tank will dictate it's own dosing requirements, and the only way to really find that out is through trial and error.
