I needed to do a bulb change and considering I run a 14 bulb T5 unit it's nice to save a couple bucks.

About a month ago J & L had them plus the controller then out of the blue stopped carrying it... I had my eye on it for a while, happy I could find it on sale here locally. |

H2Ocean Salt & Snails from aquarium Illusions:)
|
Alright, let's dust off this thread from last year.
So this year, what'd you get? I went easy on Boxing day this year, just bought a return trip to Akumal with my wife for end of March. I got a bunch of frags off xtreme in a trade for Berghia and cash. I went up to Pisces and got a flameback angel for $50, and flame hawk for $37, big box of Greenies for the dog. Then went to shoppers drug mart and got $30 of 50% off Christmas chocolates. |
Don't care much for shopping when it'. Busy busy
But grabbed new shoes and a wild stag . Was looking at at lfs. Violet in color ;) |
Yup, another crazy day of Boxing Day line-ups. Worst was at J&L, where it took over an hour just to get through the check-out. Should have just ordered online, and picked it up later...
Just stocked up on a bunch of small stuff, supplies, etc., no big reef related purchases for me this year. |
A few nice LPS (neon green wellsophyllia - $36+tax), neon orange plate ($29), Flame Hawkfish ($34), Feather dusters ($10x2), Orange Lobo ($35), 3 Fairy wrasses ($58), some Rowaphos, big tin of Cyclopeeze FD, MJ1200 and 7 flats of Hikari mysis & 2 Rabbit water bottles.
Only 2 trips to J&L and 2 trips to King Eds. Anthony |
I went crazy:
A 50" philips smart LED tv A third kilo of davids tea (mango diablo and earls grey) The ecotech propagation kit ATI dimmable fixture A 30 gallon tank for QT A yellow with blue tip acro A blue acro Cali tort Yellow monti H2ocean bucket IO bucket All the required stuffs for QT And few test kits A fish Street dosing pump Now um slapping myself for buying all these. |

But yeah, best place for corals, for sure. Last year, at this time, is when I got my real start in SPS with that purchase there. Now I am selling frags from those,... haha. |
Ordered on line from J&L :
Vertex Omega 150 Skimmer $100 off the regular price of $399.99 so I got it for $299.99 Smokin! deal :ranger: |
I picked up some salt (although not any kind of amaaaaaazing deal… but I needed it anyway), a pompom crab, coral beauty, and some new bulbs. Oh, and a beautiful rock that looks like an ice cube in my tank (the first thing my kids said when they came home was "you put an ice cube in the tank? Ha ha).
I was hoping for a few more things, but the sales weren't amazing and I wasn't sure how much I really wanted to spend. |
16 pails of salt
Sixline wrasse Barnacle blenny Peppermint shrimp Dozen snails Dozen crabs |
I didn't think about boxing day sales until it was too late. I worked a good 16 hour day, and I'm still at work! Yeesh, my brain hurts.
|
all I got was a sore hand from tying so many fish bags

Thanks Bud! :thumb: |
I didn't buy it boxing day but I never saw a better price on it after I bought it so I'm happy...
I picked up a Canon EOS 70D w/ EF-S 28-135mm IS lens. I wasn't in town on boxing day so no fish stuff.. except a dead MP10 when I got home from holiday. :( |
Well I ordered a bunch of things from J&L on Boxing Day and got a phone call yesterday informing me that they ran out of the two items that were most important to me and I may have to wait "a couple weeks or so" before they ship. That ****es me off for sure...
|
1) Achilles Tang
2) Great sale on Canon 70D with two lenses, case and card so I just had to buy it. 3) Spectra Pure Reactor - came damaged, just waiting on the potential solution 4) The Flipper - It is simply amazing. |
alright! a couple of new Canons... let's see some photos!
What's 'the flipper' ? |
I didn't go out Boxing Day, but did go Saturday, bought a new Bosch dishwasher - $530 off reg price. Ours has been out of order for a year, tired of hand washing and the messiness. Awesome deal!!!!!

The flipper is an awesome algae scrapper. It cleans all my coralline right up to the edges. I don't have to go into my tank anymore for cleanings. http://www.reefsupplies.ca/online-st...t-Cleaner.html |
- frags
- colonies - replacement heaters - clams - Vodka - amino acids - new controller (future arrival) My tank had its official first birthday on the 26th so we celebrated with drinks; some for me, some for the tank, some for me, some for the tank. It's been a good few days. |

Back on topic, my notables... Queen Angel (always wanted one) Achilles tang (picking up after another week of qt) Copperband (eating flakes!!) Mandarins 2x 3 kinds of cukes Long nose hawkfish (my second) RBTA |
