I hope people aren't freaking out over this Mayan calendar thing, last weekend and this entire week has been sad enough. Life will go on, I'll be stuck in the mall Saturday doing all my last minute shopping....

Reef_Geek 12-21-2012 01:27 AM

speaking of shopping, i'd like to make it at least to boxing day.

started seeing some flyers for the big box pet stores in town for boxing day sales... looking pretty ridiculous!

11purewater 12-21-2012 01:33 AM

I'll bet there will be some Mayans there!

gregzz4 12-21-2012 02:34 AM

FWIW, the calendar runs out in about 26hrs and 20mins, so ... Get 'Er Done

I'm sure Bass pro shop has a sale on fishing rods and ice augers:biggrin:

gregzz4 12-21-2012 03:05 AM

Ahh, Ice fishing ... what fond memories
I remember when that was fun with my Dad and Grandpa, and some cousins. Out on the ice @ 5:30 am with no tent, freezing my toes and other useful extremities off, snickers bar freezes in outer pocket ... Oh look, I got the first trout of the morning, I get a quarter. Hours later go back to the cabin for lunch and a nap, then drink a bunch and go back out for some afternoon fishing.
Finally ending the night with fish cleaning, dinner, playing cards and drinking until 8 or 9
Up @ 4am and do it all over again
One weekend of that is enough for one year. I can't imagine doing that for actual food

gregzz4 12-21-2012 03:15 AM

Aw geez, it appears the planets won't even line up tomorrow
So much for a planet alignment to signal the end of the world
Guess we'll have to rely on some other unforseen extinction event

Can't get the lick strip to close,I think you're messing with me:lol:

gregzz4 12-21-2012 03:42 AM

It would appear I may be mistaken about when our world is going to end
I always assumed the end of a season was midnight on the last day of a cycle, so this means Fri Dec 21st @ midnight, right before Winter
My assumption is that Winter starts on the 22nd, so you see where I'm going with this
Why people think the world is going to end on the last day, instead of at the end of the last day is beyond me

If I've mislead you, and the world ends in a couple hours, I'm sorry I lead you to believe you had another day to do, well, end-of-the-world stuff

Maybe Sheena could trade her burn-out rubber bits to Kenny for insulation
What do you have to trade back Kenny ?

Hahaha
Do you plan on peeling rubber all over town, while you make your rounds robbing stores ?
Now worries, you can make your monies selling your stolen wares, once everything falls apart

Ya, I'll sit in the get away car and Kenny can rob the banks! My car is disguised at the moment, covered in dirt so no one will be able to tell what color it is.

Nano 12-21-2012 05:30 AM

Titus99, you may have the timing wrong ...

I think the official time is Midnight on Friday, Dec 21st, 2012

The END of december 21st, @ Midnight, is the true time

The end of the fall solstice starts the winter solstice

Winter starts on Dec 22
So, the end of the world begins @ Midnight on December 21 2012, or the world re-starts on December 22nd, 2012
Go figure ....
You're probably going to have to perform a WC

Lookin' forward to all the calendars up for sale

kien 12-21-2012 06:31 AM

The end of the Mayan calendar's "Great Cycle" is actually December 21st, at 11:11 UTC.

I likely would just drink coffee. I would probably also want to order a pizza but doubt there would be anyone who wanted to make pizza on their last day.

Proteus 12-21-2012 12:12 PM

Got my WC done. Now they fishes can breath a sigh of relief that they at least boil in clean water.

UTC is Coordinated Universal Time. More or less GMT with leap seconds thrown for compensation.

As glad as I am for the world 'not ending' today there's probably alot of people that wish it did. People down and out some through no fault but their own, some due to circumstances beyond their control.

It would be nice this weekend is everyone could extent a smile, a few dollars or a helping hand to someone not as fortunate. I don't need to remind people of how expensive this hobby is and to please find a few extra dollars for Christmas Kettles, soup kitchens or someone with cup in hand. Any random gift of kindness would brighten the day to someone less fortunate than ourselves.

Proteus 12-22-2012 01:22 AM

I'm a little ****ed to be honest. I was waiting for the aliens arrival. They were to bring me a sweet ass sps order😁
