Retail would be about $2500 but Martin is giving me a nice discount because of the quantity but I will not disclose the actual $$$ figure out of respect for Martin.

Depends on when I can get the whole thing going and if the price does not change to much.

claymax 11-13-2011 07:14 PM

ooooo this is so exciting!

Hustler 11-13-2011 08:57 PM

That sounds awesome... Ill be watching very closely :)

The Grizz 11-13-2011 09:54 PM

I have to get Oxy's tank done before I can start on mine. Between our work schedules being so different it makes thing tough to get done but we are working on it.

Still playing the waiting game on the HEWs unfortunately. Almost two months now waiting on CREE. Apparently someone in North America is buying up every CREE white LED they can get their hands on and its having a huge knock on effect for everyone else. Its very frustrating.

The Grizz 11-13-2011 10:05 PM

Fill me in a bit Martin, what are HEW LEDS?

HEW - High Efficiency Whites.

They are a new addition to the XP-E range of LEDs with output similar and very close to the brighter XP-G only with the power consumption of XP-E.

The Grizz 11-13-2011 10:08 PM

Oh ok cool, sounds like it been a headack to get them.

globaldesigns 11-14-2011 05:52 PM

Where's the pics.... I am a visual type of guy. Yeah I now so very special

The Grizz 11-14-2011 05:59 PM

The only picture I could post is one of a bunch of glass leaning up against a wall, will that do? Or i could repost that pic of you in your chaps waiting for the short bus to pick you up

lastlight 11-14-2011 06:19 PM

Haha! Well to be honest I did come thru here scrolling for some glass previously. We'll take what we can get =)

The Grizz 11-14-2011 07:49 PM

well ok there you go, that is all the glass for the new 300. Only the front is starphire.

This should give you an idea of spacing and what you can do with 34 modules on a 1 foot square heatsink.

Cool pic. Now Grizz, could you imagine if you had to solder all of that! NO THANK YOU!

Considering Greg's the 'master fabricator' (in spirit if not in name) I doubt he'd be caught dead using a flimsy little soldering iron anyways

Seeing that Martin makes me think I might have to go a little bigger with my heat sinks

Every day!! I go into the shop to go to work but then my attention is diverted to where my glass is & I have to go at least touch it.

Soldering all that would not bother me a bit, I have spent countless hours build and repairing small and intricate aluminum pieces & a TIG, so soldering would be a breeze BUT I do really like the plug and play Martin has going. The ability to temp attach the boards, plug them all together & power up to see what it looks like over my tank will be sweet.

Just have to convince Martin into doing a payment play :lol:

The Grizz 11-14-2011 11:46 PM

" Thank God, I thought I left my Velcro wallet on the bus. Oh Hi Steve."

"Doug, do you know what time the bus is coming to pick me up?"

The Grizz 11-15-2011 01:27 AM

Not sure, ran out of pic but I hope the poor fellow made it home ok

Finally some good news on the new whites. They have shipped, arriving in BC tomorrow, scheduled for assembly on Monday so I should have them by Wednesday next week

That will be the XP-G, XP-E HEW (Cool White and Neutral White).

Very cool Mr M., so I would be best to switch my white that we have been talking about with the XP-E HEW Led's?

Delphinus 11-17-2011 03:09 AM

My retinas! WHY GREG WHY

The Grizz 11-17-2011 03:18 AM

Rick was taunting me for pic's but he hasn't popped back in to check out the new pic addition

fishytime 11-17-2011 04:29 AM

Im beginning to worry about you Greg.....taking time out from work to touch your glass and this fixation you seem to have with Rick and his chaps:razz:....which you could kindly leave me out of:wink::lol:

globaldesigns 11-17-2011 04:48 PM

Damn You!!!

Also I don't take the SPECIAL bus anymore... They kicked me out! I don't play nice in other's sand boxes.

I just can't help it, touching my glass that is. When you have 300 gals of new awesomeness and no time to build you have to touch it once in a while.

Also can't resist teasing Rick, it's so much fun. I shouldn't because I have a few pairs myself but Harley riders always look good in chaps especially me.

Now you have to take the special cab until they give you your bus pass back. Sorry Rickster just could not resist. :twised:

RedCoralEdmonton 11-18-2011 01:54 AM

The Grizz 11-18-2011 02:28 AM

No problem Steve, any time

The Grizz 11-26-2011 07:57 AM

Received a little package today from Martin @ Modular LED, this is just a part of the list of stuff for my LED build.

Yes indeedy, dealing with Martin with my LED was the best thing ever to do. We don't know how many or length of connectors we will really need until it all put together so he brought me a whole bunch of different ones & I just return what I don't use.

Should do nicely, building 2 - 39" x 12" heat sinks.

No worries there, once I get started it will be pic over load

On the tank side of things, the wife & I where talking about it & she has told me that I can build the tank in the Dinning room as long as I seal it off so the silicone smell doesn't stink up the house. But that will be after Xmas

claymax 11-30-2011 04:38 AM

any progress, heatsinks? maybe got that giant glass box put together?

The Grizz 11-30-2011 04:50 AM

Not as of yet, I have been very busy with work & Adams tank to get started on mine but soon I will be on the heat sinks.

On the up side the wife has agreed to let me build the tank in the dinning room so I don't have to try to move that beast of a tank up from the shop.
