Pictures are sometimes highly overrated...unless it is of fish, he he!

my2rotties 03-25-2009 03:47 PM

Winter clothes? My inlaws live in Kelowna and all I hear is how we should move there since its so nice.

So do you put away pants, sweaters and hiking shoes for winter wear? You know our typical summer wear out this way?

Skies are clear and very beautiful morning here in Kelowna. It was kind of nice being woken up mid-morning on saturday to the sound of birds again

Leah 03-25-2009 03:56 PM

I love bragg creek it is so amazing out there, beautiful reminds me of B.C. well not
the Okanagan per say. The Okanagan is beautiful just not so much in winter. No sun like
Alberta. After all we live in Canada. I remember when I lived in Victoria and they had
budgies outside in these cages I was amazed, pretty sure it was winter too!

my2rotties 03-25-2009 03:58 PM

DANG!!! I need me one of those... I should go borrow the neighbors Bobcat but don't feel comfortable borrowing things, plus I have never used one before... prob smash it into the side of the house or something. My hubby uses it but he is not that great either. You have a nice piece of alnd, any horses?

We went quadding in Burnt timber last year... was it Water Valley that had the two liquor stores, a bottle depot and small grocery store? It was whimsical to say the least. Gragg has two liquor stores and two bars too... we tend to embrace alchoalisum during the winter months.

Saturday was beautiful here too, I heard frog's croaking first time this year!
I am a frog fanatic. Love froggy's!

Rbacchiega 03-25-2009 04:00 PM

I personally love the snow...well, I love the great skiing Monday that was associated with the snow. Lake Louise had some FANTASTIC powder...

herm...I don't think I have any appointments booked for tomorrow......

banditpowdercoat 03-25-2009 04:00 PM

I just love Mountians and Powder snow. Thats one reason I love my new job nesteled in the Selwyn Mountians in the NWT. Cold, white and majestic. Everything looks better covered in snow. Well, maybe not my Trans Am.

new but handy 03-25-2009 04:02 PM

I'm being paid for 12 weeks of sitting at home:neutral: I'm going to go golfing today and riding in Revelstoke soon.

my2rotties 03-25-2009 04:03 PM

I have to say that you would have to take me out of Bragg in a body bag. Even in a$$ deep snow it is still quiet and beautiful. We were looking at houses in Kelowna just before we bought here in Bragg. It was depressing there and we decided not to even consider it. Plus my mother in law would be too close.

When we go through your neck of the woods this summer, I would love for you to take us on an LFS tour. Summer... it lasts all of six weeks from snow melting to snow again. We had snow on the ground last AUgust for two days...

Sorry to hear that! Is it an exceptionally bad year for avalanches? If so, what would be the cause? Just too warm?

I personally prefer grass covered ground. There's not much chance of me getting buried by that, unless I sit still for a vvveeeeerrrrryyyy long time!

Leah 03-25-2009 04:30 PM

Wow, So sorry! That is a problem, that is for sure.

Leah 03-25-2009 04:31 PM

I think it has alot do do with the cold then warm makes it highly unstable

Leah 03-25-2009 04:34 PM

Bet if the liquor store closed you might move, heheheheheeh!

my2rotties 03-25-2009 04:38 PM

I only drink if I am having a bad tank day... things have been really good these day (knock on wood), plus booze sticks to my butt, like stink on a monkey. I've been doing lots of hiking to work it off, but now the snow is so deep, I'll lose my Stafford if he stepped off a trail.

Love visitor's when are you coming out????

my2rotties 03-25-2009 05:27 PM

Not sure yet... need to get a tank sitter. I have one in mind if his mom does not mind driving him to Bragg to check on things. Will let you know.

Yep, two liquor stores and the Saloon. All within stumbling distance of our 4 way stop.

No horses, but the neighbours horses and cows sometimes find their way onto our place. We have 160 acres and lots of old fencing. (one of the duties this year is repair of said fencing)

Of course we do have no shortage of these guys:

Vampire!!!!!! :behindsofa:

my2rotties 03-25-2009 09:49 PM

Hahaa the deer are like big rats out here too... I send the dogs out to chase them off. We have had a bear on the property all winter (not hibernating), and cougars tracks at the back of the property. Dogs treed one last spring. I almost soiled myself. I have tons of pictures of deer in front of the house, usually a doe with her twin fawns.

If you want to borrow a rottie to herd the cows I would love to let her. Her bloodlines are all from a breeder in Olds that runs a feed lot and the dogs work the cattle.

You have a beautiful home and a wonderful out building... I can't imagine all the toys you can stuff into it. I am jealous. We did some work out in Water Valley and my hubby said we should look at land out there... he loved it.

Leah 03-26-2009 12:54 AM

Are we talking, skin problems or wha-ha bite marks!?

Leah 03-26-2009 01:02 AM

Stay tuned folks................Until next week. Okay I admit the weather is getting to
me, cabin fever. WANTED train to anywhere or I would settle for a vampire bite.
Yes I am bored.......And should be doing my water changes....Sigh! But this is so much
more funnnnnn!

Doug 03-26-2009 12:56 PM

Sheez. Day 3 and snowing again. May be good for the farmland around here but cant be helping the Red river flood situation.

Rbacchiega 03-26-2009 03:32 PM

yeah, I heard about that on the radio last night. Sheesh. Same with North Dakota, they've actually declaired a state of emergency.

are you right in the problem area Doug?

Doug 03-26-2009 05:18 PM

Dont think the Brandon area will get flooding like those guys. We have had some melt flooding before this 3 day snow event which got some basements and the such. Winnipeg would normally get it after ND but with the Red River flood way expansion, they are much better prepared than in 97.

Looks terrible in ND. Seems they have Fargo on evac alert.

MitchM 03-26-2009 10:03 PM

Where is this ice damming occurring?
Is it viewable on Google satellite?

Mitch

banditpowdercoat 03-26-2009 10:21 PM

Probibally not. Most Google pictures are up to 2 years old, or more.

So I think I've decided winter is never gonna end this year. The snow seems to like to melt during the week and then dump on the weekend.

rocketlily 03-29-2009 05:47 PM

Love the Bar-B-Que. It about sums up this spring.

Diana 03-29-2009 06:52 PM

This weekend I was going to remove the leaf blanket off my palm and banana trees, but now I hear it might dip back down to 0. :bad-word:

Well I guess there is only one thing left to do about this spring.:drinking:

TVR 03-29-2009 07:02 PM

NO! NO LANDSCAPING WORK JUST YET !

digital-audiophile 03-29-2009 07:04 PM

All I want to do is to get outside and start working on the yard. We've been in this house for three years and want to spend some cash on landscaping the back yard. Surprising that the house is 10 years old and neither of the previous owners botherd to plant any trees.
