The saddle valve that I used too tap into my water supply. Probably the scaryist moment in this house i was afraid it was going too **** water everywere http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...addlevalve.jpg

BlueAbyss 01-28-2009 10:35 PM

140 isn't too bad for most of Alberta, I've heard of much higher in Calgary.

This picture frightens me. The way that you have that float valve mounted on that tank just doesn't look secure to me. If the float valve were to float upward and rotate or flip, you would just keep feeding water until something bad happened. I think you would be better off just bulkheading that float switch directly into the tank wall.

scub steve 01-29-2009 12:04 AM

there is weight in that basket thing too keep it from doing that i agree with you though if i had room in the sump it would be in there but i had to squish the maxi jet in there for the phos ban reactor and that was the last of the room in there

scub steve 01-30-2009 03:16 AM

after tons of reading i hate too say it but i have lots of majano in my tank it sounds like the only way too really get rid of them is too tear the tank down and cook the live rock. There are too many too just pick them off the rock so thats out of the question anyone have any ideas?

scub steve 02-05-2009 01:48 AM

just a little update i have tons of algae in my tank so im in dire need of a cleanup crew and i like adding pics now that i know how lol

my rics that i will probably just give too my brother seeing i want too go sps

I changed my auto topoff a bit I added a powerhead too pump too the tank and changed the float
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...autotopoff.jpg

Removing algae from the glass is a bit of a pain in the *ss. You have to keep up with it. If you get lazy and leave it a few days+ then you're in there up to your armpit with a scrubber.

Can you fill me in on how all your lights and pumps etc are plugged in! Thats a great looking tank. i've been wanting to put my tank in the middle of the room but am still working on hiding all the cords.

scub steve 02-05-2009 05:52 PM

thats telfords tank and i would be interested in that info as well

BlueAbyss 02-05-2009 07:15 PM

That tank has a center overflow, I'll bet they are plugged into power bars underneath the tank and run off of one cord.

scub steve 02-05-2009 07:29 PM

ha ha thats awsome i never though of that although it kinda scares me running power threw the overflow

BlueAbyss 02-05-2009 07:45 PM

LOL all submersible equipment and cords scares me. I was soooo scared when I got my first submersible heater years ago.

I just thought about it and theres a chance that there's a plug-in on the floor below the tank, I'd be worried about running a long extension cord across the room to power the tank myself.

Thats what I assumed, but there is still the outlet on the floor, under 80 gallons of water issue! Maybe through a hole in the floor then plugged somewhere higher! huh huh!
