The Gas Lamp district in San Diego is a nice stop. A lot of good restaurnts, a bit Whyte Ave-ish, but nicer.

We drove up to La Jolla as well, nice beach, decent shopping etc.

wow.....I can't believe no one has suggested Napa or Sanoma wine tours. Hire a limo, you don't have to worry about driving and it's a great way to relax with the wife.
