Ya I've sent a email to both Neptune and ups so see what they say and I know it not Neptune but it could be if they didn't put of the shipping papers that it was a warrintee return. I was in the process of buying another apex lite too, I'm going to wait to see the out come of this first.

I have every confidence that Neptune will help you out. Just from my own experiance

Here's the email I just got from Neptune

Phil,

I'm not sure why they would have charged you duty in this instance the customs value was entered as $1.00, therefore there should not have been any duty fees.*

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you,

??????

Right. It's not duty, it's the UPS brokerage fee.

UPS is the devil.

might not be much in the big US/Canada trade deals but so many companies in the States have lost my business if they reply they'll ship UPS only

StirCrazy 01-16-2013 03:02 AM

what I used to do is refuse the shipment then call the company and tell them I refused it and why and ask it be reshipped by usps. the last time I did this I ordered 14 bucks worth of Led's and UPS wanted 35 bucks brokerage.

It baffles me how an outfit like UPS still exists. Surely after dealing with the brokerage fees charged ubiquitously folks learn after the first experience. Apparently I'm mistaken though, people continue to get ripped off. Free trade/NAFTA is clearly some kind of joke, since the average schmoe still ends up getting taxed/dutied to the hilt when attempting to bring something in from out of country.

I would like to say they are good if they are just used to ship within the same country as they are usually cheaper and faster than Canada Post and USPS, but they are also the only shipping company that has lost 2 of my Costco orders as well. And I believe if you live on the other side of the border then, yes, you get free trade.

Well just made it home from work and looked at the invoice ups left and sure thing it's a brokerage fee. It should b against the law cause they keep your item if u don't pay them. First time I've seen it. I've payed duty on lots of stuff I expect to but not some scam brokerage fee.
