Have you noticed that your Zoas have benifited from the feedings? |
I feed my fish and by doing so I indirectly feed my coral by providing them with dissolved organic waste, uneaten food, and naturally occurring phytoplankton and zooplankton. While I'm sure it helps to do some deliberate feeding it is by no means necessary.

I make a mix of Reefroids, cyclopeeze & frzn. rotifers. I add to it Selcon & some Amino acids. I used to squirt mysis into the duncans but the cleaner shrimp would dig them out.
My wife & I love featherdusters so a small squirt of this mix several times weekly keeps them happy & alive. I notice that my lps go into feeding mode with lots of tentacles within a minute of the mix going in. I also feed my tanks frzn food (usually once or twice daily) and mixed pellets (once or twice daily). |
@whatcaneyedo I just got back from the netherlands last month, that picture made me want a leffe triple, blond would work too :D

thanks for the replies guys. I think I have to glue my zoo frags down, cause my damn emerald crab keeps knocking them down.

It's not so expensive because the little pot of coralfrenzy and reefroid have lasted me for nearly a year and I still have half. It does not take much :)
I have noticed a lot of growth when I feed Chromaplex. Of all the food I give to my zoanthids, Chromaplex is the one I can't do without if I want my zoanthids to grow, and for the paly target feeding with cyclopeeze as well. I had a frag of beautiful zoanthids with very long flashy orange tentacles in my nano and they were growing like weeds. After I was out of Chromaplex I did not buy more and after a white I saw my zoanthids slow down their growth and just stop growing totally. From huge colony of that orange zoa, I was left with only one polyp as they were not doing so well and were slowly in decline. I decided to move it into my 75 gallons in hope of saving it but to no avail..it was not mutiplying. Then I read an article on specialists growing zoanthids and they recommanded Chromaplex (wish I could find that site again!). I then remebered that when I was using it my zoa were growing well and I bought it again...What did I have to lose? Now that single orange polyp have multiplied to about 50+ in a few months and I have sold a few frags of it already. Maybe it is a coincidence? dunno but heck..that's what hapened. The Zeovit amino acid did a good difference in my SPS coloration. Quote:

Sounds promising, for me i did a 25% wc and then fed the tank for the first time yesterday, and my xenia that was doing poorly for the past little while is now looking a bit more perky today I'm not sure I'd it is the drag nutrients from the salt or the food I gave the tank but its looking better today then it has in almost 3 weeks

i feed all my LPS whatever i feed my fish. dont feed my SPS intentionally

Thanks Myka... good read. It scares me to think my Zoas are starving, which I doubt is the case as they are growing. But I am certainly going to look into that Kent Marine Chroma Plex.
