They were selling at $20 each at the one store that had them.

I remember when they first came out, they were going for $40+

I have 5!! I had my previous 5 die to ich when introduced by other fish!

They do better in a longer tank!! My first group of 5 all got to be about 5.5 inches!! And they are lightning fast!!

I have seen themfrom anywhere between 25 and 80 bucks

also these are not barbs!! They have be reclassified ! Hey are Now called puntias dennisonii. I did a bunch of research a while back when I was thinking of breeding them!! When I did the research the only thing I could find on breeding was that their was no recorded case of this in Captivity!! I think has changed tho as they are far more readilly available now!

ElGuappo is right.... I remember hearing about the reclassification! Good catch!

Tony - $20+ seems to be pretty average price for them in pet stores. Up here... from 1.5-3" they seem to cost anywhere from 20-40 each.

This fish is such unethical buy. It's pretty much the same situation as the Bangaii Cardinal, only there is no grassroots hobbyist movement to rectify the situation.

They are in every store here in Lethbridge now. They seems like a really nice little fish, actice, easy to keep, and moderatly priced compared to what they used to be.

Over collection in their natural habitat. Not many (maybe 1-2) reported cases of breeding in captivity.

Cheers,
