Just my opinion though.

using aftermarket floor mats has been known to cause problems. personally i have seen the gas pedal catch on them, the clutch catch, the floor mats being to big and issues with engaging the clutch due to the pedal not going down far enough. but for what happened with toyota and techs calling floor mat issues without proper diag is not acceptable.

personally my favorite car saying i have seen is:

dodge the father, ram the daughter. i had a good laugh over this

Ironically enough, they are the Toyotas that were built in North America and not the ones built in Japan:sad:

This is the first time Toyota has had recall issues like this. How many domestic made vehicles have had this happen numerous times?

I have had my Fj for almost four years and it was one of the first ones made. I have never had a single issue with it ever, and I off road it and drive it hard. I change the oil and put gas into it, that's all. It is my first Toyota and I am never looking back.

And it's no wonder Toyota has problems with their gas pedal. Have you seen the complicated block of plastic and metal they got? what happened to a simple, unfailable pivot point?

Malibu boats had a huge recall a few years back as well with their throttles sticking wide open.
Not to good on a boat with no brakes.
