ditto for ditching the HOB filter, they're slow flow rates allow for pretty frequent clogging, especially carbon, and end up as mentioned becoming a nitrate factory. A decent skimmer should be all the filtration you'll need IMO. for a sump-less setup i'd look into the deltec HOB's like the mce-300 or tunze series

I just had a shop guy here in calgary recommend one to me, when he had Euro-Reed and Aquamedics skimmers in stock too... i've heard mixed things about the CR SS.. I got a bit more research to do I guess..

I've kept the filter hooked up, but I removed the carbon bags and added some LR Rubble that I got for free today.

It's so hard to adjust the water level in the super skimmer and if you go too far it will puke water all over the floor. This happened to me quite a few times already since February, yesterday was the last straw. It's officially shut down.

Check out my thread, If you havnt already on the other site http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/sho...fishytimes+20g. It was for a 20g but much the same as what you want to run. If you were to get another strip of t5s you could keep some sps if you were careful about what you chose and where you placed it.

Nothing right now. I just left it hanging on the side. Maybe I'll run it here and there when I can supervise it. I'm not sure I really need it.
