This is the reason everything was plumbed with rigid on my tank. I atempted using spa flex and got very angry.

I have a heat gun you can try I was working with it and some flex PVC yesterday it did help but requires time. I live in the far SE by Mackenzie town

Seriously just put it in the oven at 150 for 5 or 10 munutes just before your going to work with it.

The oven won't melt it? I might have to give it a try. The plan is to do the big ugly tank switch on Friday.

No it does not melt. but you have to be carefull. Preheat oven to 150. then put the flex in. every could of minutes check it. It does get very soft and pliable.
I needed to have it come from my overflow and then make a sharp "S" shape. It was impossible until I heated it. and it has worked perfectly.

heat it up

I agree with Jason...heat it up in the oven, and yes be careful not to leave it unattended..5-10 minutes at 150 should be fine.
